What does a weather balloon look like.. Suppose it was one? That squiggly line is the kind of path it took. Or something else?????

And yes .. I did read this last sentence .. AFTER I made my post *L*

Prankish and impish too!
At least, those I've run into have been prankish and impish.

Dunno about wiser, water balloon bombardments from upper story balconies don't strike me as 'wiser'..
*chuckle*

There's a new 'airship' that looks like that.
Don't know exactly where, what state, or if it's currently in use but it looks like that.
Kinda weird, but it may be an experimental deal.

EEEK!
That's not withdrawl, that's torture and deprivation!

It was way up there Loddy.. above the clouds. The sky was cloudless when I first noticed it, and as I watched it's movement I realized it was round and moved erratically. Al couldn't see it with the naked eye, but my eyes are really good at a distance.

He finally picked it up in the binoculars tho and it was still very very small with them. It did allow me to see what looked like stabilizers running thru the middle like in the pic tho. I think those might have been what was picking up the reflection of the sun.

I looked up weather balloons, but none had those gyroscope type things..

But wouldn't an airship follow a straight line instead of just moving around in circles etc? This thing went every which way, but did always keep heading south against the ground wind..

A Spherical airship requires four motors at 'opposite' corners, or at least two on opposite sides.
By their shape and such, they can move in random directions fairly abruptly.
Some engineer type built one that's painted to look like a huge globe of teh Earth, and he was doing fairly odd maneuvers with it, like random bumble-bee like turns and spins.
(Made it 'dance' and spin in place too..)

Still, it's only conjecture on my part as to what it might be.

Maybe, but still only conjecture on my part.
Without a REALLY good zoomed in look at it and comparing it to some of the odd airship designs I've seen recently, I can only make a best guess.
But, from the description, it may be our 'perp'.

I sure don't have any idea what your 'thingy' is..

Haven't keep up with any Aero-Space stuff since I left Boeing all those many years ago....

But this thing didn't fly per se.. it just floated lazily around. Drifted...up and down and around and then it would follow the earth for short distances.. and then go back on itself and circle up and around and down.. Light as air.

If I didn't see the stabilizer type things..flat straight lines, it would look like a perfectly round white baloon. I think the things that went thru it were metal, and would catch the sun every once in a while when it turned a little.. If it wasn't for the cloud I could have watched it for an hour as it drifted past.

The size to my naked eye was about the size of 'o' on my test here.. Only and Eagle Eye like me would have ever noticed it.. :)

That's why my first thought was a weather balloon.. It floated like one..but I can't find any pics of one with stabilizers.

I can see the winds aloft bouncing it around like that, but it never went faster or slower. Always the same slow pace. Al and I watched it with the binocs for at least ten minutes or more.

Those flat lines thru it could have been circles, but it always seemed to be facing me so I couldn't tell if they were round like a gyroscope wheel..

Very odd indeed.. A real UFO.. and Unidentified Floating Object.. lol
