I'm partial to all the midgets they find to monkey-up on the horses..."

ESPN had some good pre-race coverage of the Preakness and they told about the jockey riding Smarty Jones. He did time on felony battery charges and also smacked his wife around. Went to alcohol rehab. and completely turned his life around. He had a lot of problems with his weight and quit racing for over a year but couldn't live without it.

I think Smarty will win the Triple Crown...first horse to do so since 1978. Smarty has an interesting history too. Did you read about how in a race last year he reared in the starting gate and knocked himself out. Completely crushed the socket on one of his eyes. They thought he killed himself, then were sure he would lose the sight in one eye. He's a neat horse.

I just hope the owner, Chappy Chapman, doesn't keel over on live TV if Smarty wins the Belmont. He is in pretty bad health.

Excellent thoughts from Bob Barr - kinda like those of Charlie Reese, and many others of us.

Pull your pants up, America.

Thanks for the good information on Smarty and his monkey - have a great week down there.

Time for me to get ready to go to north Texas.

Cheers, all.

It shows a man ravaged by war - he sleeps a lot, needs a shave and his hands shake so badly at dinner that he spills wine down the front of his shirt.

Give me a break!!! The jerk was there for 4-months, and while we had a fair amount of action on Swift Boats, it was nothing like what the guys on the ground were going through.

Kerry is the biggest phony who ever ran for president...a perfect democrap.

Well, I don't think the film is supposed to be about Kerry himself - just a generic vet. You know what great fun filmmakers have had with Vietnam vets through the last few decades... they make perfect villains or dysfunctional characters because they've been so traumatized. Great qualification to be President of the U.S., eh?
I wonder if anyone sees the folly of this?

I suppose, but the impression I got from the article was that dear old dad was the model for the "generic" vet.

I mean, how many vets came home and spilled fine Chardonay on their shirts? None I know of...we might have spilled a beer or two, but wine???

And what about those Sharks?...

Sharks? Any shark seeking to chew on this old husk will have to cross 100 feet of sand, dodge a dozen beach umbrellas and tolerate the taste of sunscreen (SPF 15).

That describes 99.999999% of all men, the only exception being her father.

Good to see you catpuppy!
I was worried about you. I tried to send you a couple of e-mails, but they were undeliverable.

Headed out your way next week. Going to San Antonio for a couple of days and may make a day run to Austin if time permits. I'll be on the lookout for a redhead with camera in hand. :>)
