Sen. John Kerry sold his foreign mansion in Italy just weeks before he announced a run for the White House in January of 2003, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
Actor George Clooney purchased the stunning 18th century mansion located in the Italian village of Laglio [50 miles north of Milan] from Kerry and his wife for $7,800,000. Clooney first learned about the listing from Brad Pitt, who had been holidaying with his wife Jennifer Aniston at Versace's compound nearby.
While Kerry and his wife's homes in the United States are worth at least $23,733,705, it is not clear if the candidate currently owns property overseas.
The campaign has repeatedly denied requests for any information on foreign assets held by Kerry.

oh man I missed you guys last night - I haven't had a chance to catch up on the thread yet so forgive me for that, but I watched the dims last night and they were pathetic!! I sure enjoyed watching them - talk about a party in need of a resurrection. Kerry is so beatable! Who was Bill sitting with - some dishwater blonde NOT his wife? I know they spread the luminaries around at these kinds of events but still, it's weird they'd allow Bill to sit next to a woman.
I missed Big Gay Al and didn't get tuned in until the last part of Carter, but the part of him I saw was terrible. And Clinton was so cornball with his affected southern accent and his lame jokes. Kerry was down right funereal. It was wonderful! I also noted that he has taken notes from the Algore School of Excitement - the way to appear innervated about your schtick is to yell a lot. Otherwise, I thought He and Al looked like a matching set of end tables.

He and Al looked like a matching set of end tables.Like I said, it looks like JFK and BigGayAl have the same makeup consultant. Can't wait till someone gets the bright idea to plop Effin' in a canoe in the middle of a dry crick, then turn on the water.

Is that a Turnbull and Asser shirt Clinton (Bill) is wearing? He just can't seem to buy American. Is that a form of outsourcing?

I thought it was kinda funny last night watching the dems paying "tribute" to the leaders of their party:
Carter - a failed president
Clinton - an impeached president
Gore - "I'll never be president"
and Kerry - "send me"

Clarke said the other night on LKL that he asked to be transferred to cybersecurity after he was disgusted with the Bush admin's approach to terrorism and that they didn't value their chief terrorism person (him).
Larry then asked him if it was true that he asked to be given the deputy asst to Tom Ridge and he said that no, he hadn't asked anyone to give it to him, that instead, he had simply told people that he would be open to taking it. This directly conflicts with what Condoleeza Rice has said - that Clarke came to her and asked her to intercede with Ridge for him (Clarke) to get the job.
If this guy were on the level, he wouldn't be seeking to make a buck off of the atrocity of September 11th. I don't know why some of the families of those killed can't see this.

Hi E, glad you're back!
I don't know why some of the families of those killed can't see this.
I think they are libs who voted for Clinton and don't want to admit he, (and therefore, they) are responsible. If I had voted for Clinton, I would be tempted to be doing the weasel worm dance, too. Who would want that on their conscience? To this day there are people in Germany who refuse to admit to Hitler's atrocities.

If you want to be completely overshadowed at your big coming-out party, just invite Al Gore to join you onstage.

This is in the NY Times:
As she prepares to leave her job at the end of the year, Ms. Rice, the president's national security adviser, now finds herself at the center of a political storm...
Has Condi announced she's leaving? If so, I sure missed it.

I can imagine every dorky Dem in that photo is gritting his teeth and thinking to himself how much he can't stand the guy at his left or right. Unity, my Aunt Fanny!

I've just spent a really fun hour watching the video links to Rush's appearance at the Media Research Center's awards banquet last week. I know Rush talked about it, but I was in and out and didn't get the full flavor of it from him. If you didn't either, take time to watch the links below...it's a hoot!
First, Rush wasn't listed on the dinner's program. Like Bush dropping into Baghdad, he only appeared when the audience thought the show was almost over. A producer interrupted Brent Bozell to say there was a VIP backstage and suddenly Rush's theme song was piped in...and the crowd went wild! Rush's remarks were nothing you haven't heard on his show, but the moment he walks out is really worth watching...especially for those like me who've been a little down in the mouth over the media's scoring against Bush this week.
Other awards presented were:
--Baghdad Bob Award (winner, Diane Sawyer)
--- I'm not a Geopolitical Genius But I Play One On TV (Jeanine Garofolo)
---Media Know-It-All Award (Howell Raines)
---I Hate You #!*#! Conservatives Award (Bill Moyers)
---Ozzy Osbourne Award--for the Wackiest Comment: This one I have to lay out. The winner is Charles Pierce, Boston Globe, for this opening sentence to an article last fall: If she had lived, Mary Jo Kopechne would be 62 years old. Through his tireless work as a legislator, Edward Kennedy would have brought comfort to her in her old age.
They're all fun watching. Here's a link...

I haven't heard or read a word that Condi is leaving. I hope she isn't leaving.
It just occurred to me - you know who Clarke reminds me of? That sniveling weasely little dog of Boris and Natasha's on the old Bullwinkle and Rocky Saturday kid tv show. (I've dated myself, now.)

Hi Gran, Hi Mae -
It's hotter than heck here today - it stopped raining so I went out and pruned the rose bushes and clematis and cleaned out the dead stuff from winter. The lavender bush is budding out and trees look like they are thinking of leafing out. I'd almost forgotten what spring looked like. Now watch it turn around and snow.

I was out and about with meetings most of the day. So I didn't get any gardening done.
There's a bit of uneasiness in our family. Our DIL is due with their 3rd child in May. She's been having contractions and had to go to the hospital last night for some IV treatment to get the contractions to stop.
I haven't heard from them, so I'm assuming everything is fine. Light a candle for them, okay?
We've been to Mass and are heading back to town to attend the 50th birthday party of a friend. I'd rather stay home. I'm coming down with a nasty cold,,, at first I thought it was allergies, but I've resigned myself to the fact it's a cold. I need rest. We'll be home early.

Will do on the candle.
Try to make it a short night at the party so you can get home and snuggle up in bed.

We're home. I'm having a sneezing fit. I don't know if it's allergies or a cold.
I'm going to head off to bed. I didn't sleep well last night,,, I was halfway listening for the phone all night long.
