Al Sharpton was smiling broadly the other night as he stood on the stage at the National Building Museum in D.C., his arms upraised and his hands clasping those of Jimmy Carter and Howard Dean. Farther down the line were Bill Clinton, John Kerry, Al Gore and John Edwards. "It's unprecedented for me, an activist, to be standing there with two presidents and four presidential candidates," Sharpton told PAGE SIX the day after the event, which raised $11 million for the Democratic Party. "I've come a long way from when I was ostracized. When the people who want to marginalize me saw that picture, I guess they were a little disappointed."
