The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Not THAT one, silly, though I hear that one grows well in the Pacific Northwest! ;o) I'm talking about the one that makes the authorities crazy for other reasons!

We're gonna need to do a stopgap health insurance policy for David until he goes to UT Austin. I just talked to a friend here in MA and she said the political weenies made it so difficult for them to write a catastrophic health insurance policy here that the companies no longer do it. She said that PA companies DO write them, so can you please freepmail me the names of some Insurance broker possibilities? Maybe there is someone with whom your parents deal on a regular basis? Thanks!!

Tansy sounds like pansy...sounds like a very pleasant plant.

Hard to imagine it as something that would cause widespread panic!

Actually, tansy is a natural ant repellant. I grow it in pots to brew up an infusion to pour around anyplace ants might try to venture.

I should have had Hair mail me her attack plant last year. From the sound of it I would have gotten a good amount of ant dose.

Hm...I could use some, too. My attempt at an herb garden turned into an ant hill, mostly.

The mint was in a separate place and was fine...I'm waiting to see if the roots survived the winter, though. Hope so!

Oh, sheesh, I know nothing about insurance - my parents deal with a private guy who's very very local. Sorry, I really don't know if I can help... the big name companies are all out here. So glad I don't have to worry about insurance, I should be covered by the company until I'm covered by school again.

Did Clare have fun at the convention? I've got to get to one of those, one of these days.

Back from work!

I was going to do my workout right away, but I'm third in line here. Oh well. It's freezing but sunny, I went to the bookstore on lunch hour (didn't buy anything but I did read two chapters of a manga), and I should be able to relax this evening.

Need a picture!

Don't have a digitized one handy will arrange sometime soon!

The moderator is getting stingy with thread space -- guess we have to cut down on '00'contests.

Been away for awhile, will try to return more frequently!

I bet your mint made it! It takes a lot to kill out mint. Typically the only thing that will is drought coupled with mowing.

Tansy is a member of the mint family and therefore a very aggresive plant also. I'm guessing it's agressive nature is why it was such a terror in the horse pasture!
