The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Oh, looked at a couple Spiderman collections, one X-Man book, but I can't find the right things. Rejected Sandman as waaaay too expensive. Then perusued the manga.
Sigh... finished the dark anime... ended pretty much as I expected, I mean, it's a prequel, everyone knows the girl has to die 'cuz she's not in the series. Very dark. Mmm... lovely music though.

You gotta quit this! We're gonna be booted again!Am I supposed to start a new thread or something?--I know we're supposed to stop at 5,000 but I don't know how you start a new Hobbit Hole thread, I just figured whoever's administrating was gonna do that. How's that work?

No, Hair will take care of it. You're bad, man...Hey, I learned from the Evil Overlordess :) But how come we get booted for that, though?--is there some rule I'm not aware of? Or is Wneighbor just giving me a hard time for being such a chronic funkler? :)
To: JenB
Did you finish both episodes of the dark anime? I just finished
Horton, about to pop in
Willie Wonka.
I didn't care for Sandman--a bit too avant-garde for me, I like old-fashioned superheroes. Which Spiderman collections and X-Man book did you look at? It can be hard to find the good ones, I should give you a list of the ones to look for. Some of the newer ones aren't as good as the classics.
To: Fedora
No idea what I looked at today! Random Spiderman collection. Possibly "Essential" Spiderman? It was at the Barnes and Nobles so, only new collections and stuff.
Yeah, finished all my dark anime. No new Kenshin until Tuesday.
Oh, bedtime. See you tomorrow.

Mmmmm hmmmm... nice picture.. er, I mean pictures. plural. pictures. with an s. yeah, that's what I meant. :-)
Glad you had a nice summer day! Was great here too. Sunny and in the 80's. I loved it.
So, did ya get any wedding plans done or was it mostly work and flower plantin? I like the flower boat BTW. I used to have an old flower bathtub at the old place... but, I didn't bring it up here with me. LOL

Glad you had a nice summer day! Was great here too. Sunny and in the 80's. I loved it. Heck, it's 80 here, right now. Of course, on weekends they turn off the air-handling, and it ALWAYS gets hot in the winter.
They also shampooed the rugs for spring cleaning, and the place smells like warm, wet dog.
However, I'm told the place is an absolute icebox on weekends in the summer. I can live with that.

You know that we will be back in your neck of the woods in a few months and we will be expecting that red hook when we get to Ft. Lewis. A trip to E-9 would be a fine thing. Also... I'd be happy to host for barbecues and beers for as many as want to show up at the beach...

Sounds like this fella needs a trip to E-9. Not sure what that is, but it sounds fun. Actually our favorite place there before we left was Galloping Gerties. We went there nearly everyday for breakfast in the last few weeks at Ft. Lewis. We wanted as many good meals as we could, cause we knew there wouldnt be any here. There is many a morning here that we think of that place while looking at our under cooked bacon and runny eggs. Anyway, that is all months away but we will definately have to get together. Steve

I love the flower boat!
I also envy your weather. We have ice on the deck today. Palm Sunday... and I'm in my winter dress.

We're supposed to get up to a foot of snow by Tuesday. I thought about wearing a spring dress anyway today...but decided it probably was a baaad idea, especially as sometimes we do an outdoor procession on Palm Sunday. We didn't, but I was still glad I had a sweater.
Going to the big city (Littleton, NH) to do some shopping...be back this afternoon, maybe.
In happy news, I sold a heavy duty guitar case I bought years ago for air travel and haven't used much. Puts me almost ahead of the game when it comes to bills. Woo-hoo!
Makes me wonder what else I could sell. Hm...maybe travel isn't altogether out for the summer...
