The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Update on Missing Boy

The boy was found late last night. He had been kidnapped by one of the father's old girlfriends as a "get even" method. She is in custody now.

Hmmmm... a pastor named Lucky sounds like she would fit in quite well in the ministry I belong too. I don't suppose she rides a Harley.

I dunno. The disturbing part is daddy did not want to press charges. Mom insisted. I'm thinkin' daddy needs his - ahem - kicked.

Something still going on if he is being that way I think.

Good afternoon, btw!

I am glad the kid is safe now.... hopefully the most unstable part of his life is now gone.

Still - this seems like it should have been news. The situation was much more illicit and potentially dangerous than the custody-issue-parental abductions that ~have~ made the news. What makes the news sure is a lottery.

Lucky was her maiden name, she has a married name now. She ministers mostly to quiet, shy Scandinavian Lutherans.

Shall I ask her if she rides a Harley?

Didn't have so much as a knife at first.

A knife doesn't seem very important, until it's the only piece of technology you have.

I suspect that in this case the abduction happened so late in the day the news crews probably never got wind of it. We aren't exactly in an area where we've got a lot of hot newshounds. LOL I expect someone would have to actually call the news guys and tell them this was going on for them to get wind of it. I have noticed quite a bit slips through the news cracks in this town. Not quite sure why.

:-) No need! I can ask her! After all, I will meet her on June 19th.

We do have somebody already in our ministry who came in with that road name.

Woo-hoo! Glad to hear he's OK!

Using a kid like that is utterly despicable.
