The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Actually, I can't speak for the Master Mariner ... his voice is too deep, and I have an accent/drawl/twang! You'd know it was me right away! Ummm... I've never noticed you having an accent/drawl/twang thing goin' Rose. However, I have noticed that our Darlin' Mariner has an accent. You can tell that he ain't from around these parts! :-D
Still, he's quite attractive and really needs to come visit so he can find out just what Texas has to offer! :-)

Good women of the West, I'm outta here. But, before I go, make sure you get a look at the latest
Texas Monthly cover ... talk about celebrating the vast diversity of Texas music ...!

Have you seen Master and Commander? My mother wants me to read the book, and I was wondering if you or Bear had seen the movie. Seldom is there a movie that is better than the book, and if it's good, I might get it for PE (and borrow it for myself).

I loved the movie, and will buy the DVD. And I want to find the books ... I adore that historical period (Napoleanic Wars), and I gobbled up the Hornblower series.

We got our copy today ... but I haven't had a chance to read it yet. I like Beyoncé, and I'm bemused by her getup here .... have to see the list, and see what I disagree with! <grin>
Good night, all!
To: Rose in RoseBear
Well then, let me tell you that I saw ONE of the series titles at Target this morning. It was the one that they made into the movie, which is not the first book in the series. I guess, if I want to get serious about it then I will have to go to a real bookstore when they actually have entire series of books available.

I had better turn out my light as well, and go to bed. elf-boy just came in to tell me he it was time to go to bed. This coming from a boy who went to bed two hours early! before dinner even... I had to wake him up at 8:00 to get him to eat *something*. Don't want any repeats of Saturday morning. Sheesh!

Alkhin is very much a fan of the Master and Commander books and movie. She had a Master and Commander thread going for a while a few months back. I'm sure she'd love to talk about it with you. Her interest was catching and I read 3 of the books but I forget which the 2nd two were right now. Enjoyed them -- but never did see the movie. Guess I ought to put that on my list to rent one of these days...

Well, I'm glad you have gotten through the actual plans and the family is finally gathered for the funeral. I'm sorry for the event but glad you've gotten through all this difficulty.
I too will be back home... only 2 days after you. I'm heading down when I finish work at noon on Friday. Got some more birthday celebrations in store! :-)

Wow, they got chatty last night... I took nyquil and it knocked me for a loop. But I feel rested today. Rested and lousy. Stupid allergies.

I spent all day today explaining to people that: yes, you need virus protection; yes, you need it all the time; yes, you need it every day; yes, you need virus protection, you need a firewall, you need an adware scrubber. Doesn't matter how new the machine is, how long you spent on line, what websites you surfed. ARRRGHHHHHH!!!!!! Tell me about it! I've been trying to teach the students this for MONTHS now, but they STILL DON'T GET IT! And they always complain that it's too hard or takes too long or costs too much or blah blah, despite the fact that there ARE a few decent free virus scan products and we're always willing to talk them through using the other products. And yet they STILL call us complaining when they get pop-ups or say it's OUR fault when they end up with a virus or worm or malware.
