The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Sorry bout that! I can't stand when I get an earworm too. Because I love music soo much I think I always have an earworm 24/7. It is just usually a song I don't particularly like...I won't say hate. Hate is such a strong word :-)

Oy..tell me about it!
But, it's not going to get any better, I'm afraid.
I was offered a job last week, and I start next Monday!
I tell ya...it's just....amazing...how impacting and life-changing these last two months have been for me. What a ride!

It's my belief based on experience that our good Lord never wants us to get bored! *laughing*

Re: Earworm.
Ruthie's previous post about "busy, busy, busy" just put the VeggieTales "I'm busy" song in my head.
Which is most welcomed, as before that, I was dealing with a combination of "Heaven on the 7th Floor" and "The night they drove old Dixie down."

Amen to that!
Right now, I'm calling local theaters to see if I can get a group rate for this Sunday evening. Jess and I are taking the church Youth Group to see 'The Passion'. So, between that and calling the youth parents to notify/get permission, I'm even busy tonight.
But, at least it's phone-busy, which grants me some internet time here at home.
Headsets rule!

Another one I liked...Three Wooden Crosses...this one was Matthew's favorite...
Three Wooden Crosses Lyrics
A farmer and a teacher
A hooker and a preacher
Riding on a midnight bus
Bound for Mexico
One was heading for vacation
One for higher education
And two of them were searching for lost souls
That driver never ever saw the stop sign
And 18 wheelers can't stop on a dime
There are three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway
Why there's not four of them heaven only knows
I guess it's not what you take
When you leave this world behind you
It's what you leave behind you when you go
That farmer left a harvest
A home and 80 acres
The faith and love for growing things
In his young son's heart
And that teacher left her wisdom
In the minds of lots of children
Did her best to give 'em all
A better start
And that preacher whispered
"Can't you see the promised land?"
As he lay his blood stained Bible
In that hooker's hand
There are three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway
Why there's not four of them heaven only knows
I guess it's not what you take
When you leave this world behind you
It's what you leave behind you when you go
That's the story that our preacher told last Sunday
As he held that blood stained Bible up
For all of us to see
He said, "Bless the farmer
And the teacher
And the preacher
Who gave this Bible to my momma
Who read it to me"
There are three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway
Why there's not four of them now I guess we know
It's not what you take
When you leave this world behind you
It's what you leave behind you when you go
There are three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway......

Try going around with "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything" playing in your head all day.
Those vegetables are evil, I tell you, evil!

Oh yeah...mom cries too, which is why I was so excited to get the Randy Travis tickets...she just loved it.
I tell ya though, it was INCREDIBLE when he sang that about God saying this is Blood of my Blood...then he paused and when he sang "and I'm gonna raise him up!"....It was really awesome, the crowd went so crazy! The whole place rose to it's feet.
