The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'm so sorry to read about your kitty, Rosie!! Maybe it won't come back...

Suzi: Think I got through some chink in that person's hard heart, but it snapped shut pretty quick. A pity, since a heart full of vitriol is bereft of joy.

The jedis are watching Arthur...I have a few minutes. Then I'm off to get Steve some flax seed meal...apparently makes a nice crust on fish and chicken and has no net carbs.

I know that one! When my sewing machine quit working last fall I had just cut out 16 Christmas gifts for folks! Now, they're all stacked messy-like on the sewing table beside the machine that won't work right. ~sigh~

What kind of range does that thing have? Can I swing on buildings or is it only rated for child weight ranges.

Good question!--if I get one I'll have to test that out :) I suspect you may have to have the proportionate strength, speed, and agility of a spider and be a chemistry genius to do that, though :)

Hi! Is all well in Jediland? Didnt you take some pics of the Lone Star moot (Yoakamoot for me lol)?

Someone had taken a pic of me that without my glasses on i couldn't see it well at all, but it looked like a picture of Rachel. Was that you? I would like to see it with glasses on.

How 'bout astronomers? I kinda like the name "Tycho"...

Wasn't he named after a train? :)

Is "Boy" inspired by Tarzan's son?

No, not that original, I'm afraid. More like he was born with the equipment that dangled. (tho we "fixed" that soon enough!)

Oooh, yay! You give me a chance to trot out on of my favorite 'factoids'.

Tycho Brahe, the famous astronomer, died ten days after his bladder burst. He had been at a banquet and, as etiquette required, could not leave the table until the King left. Unfortunately, he had drunk too much and his bladder capacity was exhausted. It exploded and he died, poisoned by the waste.

True story. I tell it to people and they can never make it through a movie again, they always have to use the restroom...

Oh, yeah! :) My favorite Rush song is "Tom Sawyer"--like that whole album. I didn't mention them because I don't really think of Rush as "metal", but I did kinda listen to them along with the metal I listened to.
