The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Good morning!

You know...you haven't LIVED until you've had three Siamese and Siamese mixes lecture you at length first thing in the morning.

Cleo of course isn't supposed to have any food, and I decided not to lock lock HER up, which would have been REALLY noisy - she would have yowled, and Tam, who's a tenderhearted little guy, would have been frantic and tried to get her out, even if it destroyed the door.

So...instead I just took away the food. I'll get it back out when Cleo is safe in the crate for the trip to the vet. But they are NOT happy with me. Luckily they're just sitting in the kitchen muttering to each other for the most part. The full chorus doesn't come out until I go in there. Then they get VERY loud and indignant, especially Halvah (the fattest) who was already on a hunger strike because I switched cat food brands and she turned up her nose at the new stuff. This may be good for her...you don't appreciate what you have until you don't have it!

Good morning!

I got up early and did my workout - weightlifting. It went well and I'm considering switching my runs to early morning. They say you burn more fat that way... it just means getting up an hour earlier. But on the other hand, I feel pretty great right now.

I WAS walking in the early morning for awhile during the summer. It was harder some days than others...getting up, that is.

But how people run before they've had anything to eat or drink...well, I don't know if I could do it! But it probably WOULD make you feel better about facing the day, I suppose.

Dropped the kitty off. They said she should be able to go home the same day...I'm supposed to call after lunch and see how it went. They still have to send off a sample for testing before they'll know if it's a malignancy, though.

Yep. Mouthy.

But I think I did the right think. Tam was upset just with Cleo being in the crate for a few minutes. He wouldn't have been happy with her locked up all night. Not to mention it would have been harder on her.

Poor baby...she REALLY hates being crated. Halvah, on the other hand, will sleep in the crate if I leave it upstairs...but then, she's a little weird.

I drank a lot of water before doing anything. I think I'll give it a try tomorrow and see what happens.

That reminds me, Alpha and Beta are going to be real hungry when I get home...

My sweetie was a black lab named Dixie. When we had to move into a small apartment, we let her stay at my BIL's ---he has a lot of acreage --- she was shot by one of his neighbors. :-(
:( sorry to hear that. I had to leave my schnauzer mix with my parents when I moved to Iowa. Now all I have are cats to keep me entertained.

Will do!

I'm getting a little stiff here, from sitting. Oh well. I still feel good about having exercised.

Of course, I'm now up three pounds. Hopefully it's muscle, not fat.

I use to do that... I really should buy some more motivation and start it up again. Nothing quite makes you feel peppy all day like a nice morning workout.

And nothing makes you feel sore like using the next-size-up weights... I may regret this later...

My apartment defense squad of Ninja Cats.
ok mostly they just lay around and purr...
I forgot to top off the food today so Beta is sure to have snarffed it all by about 10am. I guess that is what she was bugging me about this morning.

hehe true true. Get some free weights so you have something to use on days you can't get to the gym... or something you can use as an excuse to not go like I tend to.... hmmm on second thought don't do that.

I'm back down to where I was a coupla weeks ago...which still means I haven't lost much from my starting point, but at least it's lower than my starting point.

August is still a long way off. That's probably a good thing...

We have a gym in our house! My parents have built it slowly, but they're fitness freaks. In the loft, we have a full weight machine - you can do anything on it - and dumbbells from 3 up to 75 pounds. In the basement, a treadmill and a nordictrak. I can do cardio or strength right at home.

The problem is just finding time and energy. But my goal is to get in shape before I move.

Did you get Alpha first?

Heh...your naming system is better than the numbering system a certain family here has used...
