The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Hair; heh-heh; well, it's a little known fact that many of us gray haired old pharts don't like cats, not at all,
well, except our own, or friend's, or sick ones, or lost ones, or old ones, or young ones...

I so wish that Melanie and I could have joined you today. When we saw your note this P.M. we both groaned -- we had such a good time at last year's rallies, it'd have been such fun. Alas...I must wait such things until I return to the land of those with real lives!
To: Wneighbor; RMDupree
Thanks.... The cat has had a great long life since he wandered into my back yard, kicked around both my dogs and announced that he would like to stay 15 years ago.
Something's got to get him.... maybe this will be it, maybe not! Dad's giving him lots of chance. Look at this this way.... if he dies now, he wont have to be clipped again this summer. Remember what he looked like after the buzz cut last year?

Ya know, I think you're at least doin' a part of your own by being in the job you're in now. Tough job. But, you're still a keeper of the flame in gubmint. :-)

Yep! I remember that buzz cut. :-)
He has been a good buddy for you and your dad. A good thing he wandered in 15 years ago. Good for all of ya.

Poor ol' fella! He did have to do through the indignity of that buzz cut last year. ;-)

He has to have his hair cut in the summer.... He has really long hair and bad grooming habits.... he gets all matted unless we clip him, and he gets hairballs....
To: HairOfTheDog
I'm just imagining our cats being buzzed. Funny image.

You don't think he's got a nasty hairball blocking him up partially, do you? Has he been x-rayed?

To: JenB
The cat has claws and hates the clippers... I am sure it is a funny image!
