The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Didn't you know that Hair and Ecurbh are gettin' married on June 19th? And we're having a moot up there for the weddin'? :-)

I heard rumors, but had not caught up on the threads enough to get specifics. I of course knew they were engaged!!

How did the rodeo go?! I am sorry I was not able to meet with you. Things have become incredibly busy. On top of that, we are having to replace the transmission in my truck. It hurts to even write it out, much less pay it out! But I thank God we could hold off until this year. Had it become necessary last year, I wouldnt be writing all of this in my new study.

Plus I have been rather absorbed in Patrick O'Brian of late. I'll return to Tolkien someday...the last three years have been one long indulgence.

Gees I'm sorry to hear about the tranny Alkhin! Those are *way* too costy especially if its an automatic! We did miss you and mstar but were so short on time ourselves that it would have been tough to catch up with us! I hope we *do* get to moot still eventually! Maybe you and the Mr. can get back up to Waco one of these days! :-)

I just finished reading the "LOTR musical" thread. Ghastly, especially the contributions of our own folks. :)

If I was an investor, and read what we wrote, I'd pull my money out of the project immediately. Give me a sure-fire winner like "Springtime for Hitler" any day.

I saw that thread, but thought better of reading it. It looked just too scary. :-)

Thank you so much for that sentiment! I know you *must* be talking about my earlier post of the things MBY, PQ and 2J gave me at Lone Star Moot!

Sleep well honey. And feel better tomorrow. (((Ramius)))

What new digs already? Well many congrats and best wishes for another "Happy Hobbit Hole".

On line a bit hoping to hear from Terry by e-mail before I am out of here tom. Also to catch up with "pings" and "things".

Sorta all packed and ready to go. . .leaving here about 10:00 am or so. Really would like to hear from Terry before I leave. You know, the knowledge that he made it to the same country where I will be going to ALONE would be helpful.
Anyway appreciate prayers as I will be flying into Birmingham and taking the train to Chester. Terry will be in classes outside of Manchester so I will not be going to the same city where he will be during the daytime hours. I don't know why I am nervous about this. . .I guess because I haven't heard from him. Oh well. . .you and me Jesus.

So glad the "Texas Moot" went ok for everyone. Happy B-day to all the "b-day mooters".

If I find an internet cafe over there, will try to "freep". If not, hope to see you all in about three weeks. Cheers!

Safe journeys mstar!

Morning all! Reporting in from Momma-moot. My mother flew out Sat. and we've been having a grand time. Yesterday we went down to DC and saw the monuments, Nat'l Cathedral and part of the Smithsonian. We were particularly keen on the First Ladies' dresses. Got to see Laura's red little number that she wore for the inaugural ball. It is stunning in pictures- and breathtaking up close!

Today we're goin' shoppin'! Will check in later...

Good morning! We've only got about half an inch of snow right now but the weathernazis keep giving us dire warnings about '1-3 inches with freezing rain' and '3-6 east of the city' - guess where I am....

They've changed our forecast from "an inch of accumulation possible" to "Snow. Heavy at times. Accumulation 5 to 8 inches." Supposed to be up to 10 inches by tomorrow.

At least it's supposed to be cold enough that it should in fact be snow and not ice.

I'm just glad that I'm the one hosting the music night tonight...don't have to drive.

Do have to clean like crazy when I get home, though. Ugh.
