The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yes, Anthony Hopkins starred :) The plot was a little slow at first, but it was starting to pick up at the point I left off.

If she gets too nasty, I'll put in for them to get a different payroll rep. I can't deal with nastiness for nastiness sake.

Especially when I have gone out of my way for them so many times before.

See, I'm devious. And evil. Hehehe. Jen, Queen of the Spammers!

That was evil :)

BTW, you've got the last two chapters! :)

I'm sure if you end up having to get them a different rep it would be the most professional thing to do. That will keep them a happy client AND keep them off YOUR back! :-)

It's never any fun when you have to make other people happy, especially when they just don't wanna be. Come with the territory.

Like working in IT... you don't get phonecalls from happy people. I would suppose that your position is pretty similar on that count.

Your response was priceless, though. :-)

Thanks for the compliment reagrding my response! I like to keep my rude clients guessing whether I'm being a smart-ass or not.

This lady is just a royal pain in the keister to everyone, so I didn't take it personally. But compared to last week when I got two letters in the mail from 2 different clients thanking me for my terrific work, this client was like a kick in the pants.

Wow... time to push the envelope, then. Take advantage of the good humor window... Anything else you "need"?? New golf clubs perhaps... no wait, I got it: You need a boat. :-)

What I don't entirely understand is where the good humor window came from? I didn't do anything to bring it on.

Beautiful hole!!! Although I doubt the hobbits themselves were this transient...

I still think a thread should be named something like "from the desk of our palantir..." or something like that.

Upcoming nuptials...how exciting!!! (I know I know I am WAAAAAY behind the times...)
