The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Wicked, tricksey, false. You wants it for youself. Doesn't share, no it doesn't, my Precious! Now, just a minute, I found it in this river, and I've already given you a birthday present, and more than I could afford--wait--what are you doing?--stay back!--[choke!]
Speaking of which, have you decided what Race you are yet? :-)
I didn't know I had to decide this! :) What choices do I have?

It also makes it easier to access the enbalming fluid she needs to keep herself from rotting.Aha!--so she's a mummy and a vampire as well as a Sasquatch! That would explain it. . .

Never heard of the Invisible TestOf course you haven't!! Men only find out about them after they have already failed them! You know, the times that she's mad at you and you don't know why? Well now you know.

Cute pictures!--looks like we have an aspiring archeress! :) Bow looks very nice, also!
While everyone is talking about superheroes, here are some
real ones. Of course, the cover was intended to insult America, but I consider this an unintended compliment.

Well now you know.Oh, that test! :) I think I first learned about that one from watching my Mom and Dad's arguments as a kid--LOL! How come it's called Invisible, though? :)

Thinking about it, who else have they got?
Jude Law? Too blonde and snarky.
Guy Pearce? Too thin and fine-boned. Not "manly" enough.
Ewan McGregor?
(As soon as I begin thinking again, I'll tell you why not...)

Performing super deeds in underwear, did you say?

The late Florence Griffin-Joyner, aka "Flo-Jo", taken during her gold-medal, world-record 100-meter dash in Seoul, 1988.

Jackie Joyner-Kersee, after winning gold in the heptathlon at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992.

Naccole Guinn won the ACC title in the triple jump and in the process set a Virginia record, becoming the first Cavalier to leap over 43 feet indoors, going 43' 1.5" (13.14m).

Currently the fifth-ranked female high jumper in the world, Acuff is not only a top competitor but also a show-stopper. Acuff rides into this year's Nationals on a wave of media attention that started swelling last March at New York's Millrose Games when she literally sent fur flying. Opting not to wear a traditional spandex outfit, Acuff wore instead a gray, fur tube top and black briefs trimmed with fur. The fur was fake but the attention that the 6' 2" Acuff drew was very real.

Choices indeed! PE is a wizard, while I am halfelven (mom was an elf, dad was a wizard). So are these races defined in Tolkien terms or D&D terms? :) Either way I figure I'm probably halfelven. Of course I also have monk skills, and halfelves can't be monks, so I may have a problem with the DM there. . .
To: Rose in RoseBear
Wow. If I looked like that - particularly like Ms Griffen-Joyner - I'd run around in underwear too!

Tolkien terms please... your similarities to Master Corin make me think a bit of Dwarves, but not quite.

Sigh. Rosie and I would have kidnapped thegirl at Entmoot if we'd been able to agree who got to keep her. When my sisters were that age, I wasn't old enough to appreciate them!

Your posts made me grin!
Well, something from Middle Earth of course.
I'm a Harfoot Hobbit lass meaning I'm descended from a looooong line of Hobbit folk and have had dealings with the Race of Dwarves for a long time. That's why I favor them over Elves!
No offense to the Elves of course. Especially, my dear WN!

Thinking about it, who else have they got?For Bond, you mean? That's what I'm wondering. I can't think of anybody who fits the part better than Brosnan, so I don't know who else they'd pick. Part of the trick to Bond is that he has to be in good shape but can't have too big a build, which rules out the broader-built action types like Bruce Willis, etc. Mel Gibson's got certain aspects of it, but comes with too many associations from previous movies, and his personality doesn't quite fit. Hmmm. . .Maybe Val Kilmer?--if he wasn't so hard to work with on the set.
