The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Ok, I have a question. I was staying at a friend's house for a weekend this summer and we spent some time reading her brother's comics. Mostly Spideman Ultimate, etcetera. But there was one series... it was in two collections, or maybe three. By a guy who's name even I know, but can't recall. I'm thinking Michael Strawcyzi (or some strange combination of those letters?). Possibly called something like Rising Stars or Falling Stars. It was about a whole lot of superheros, mildly X-Men-ish. Very dark, both in storyline and drawing.

Have you got any idea what I was reading? Can you tell me?

Prayers for your mom Corin! We are pretty good at breast cancer, there is a lot of reason for optimism. Will be thinking about you and waiting for your return.

It's one of the funniest movies of its decade, in the top four, easily.

You like Eddie, you obviously have a sense of humor, so go rent it!

(Sheesh! Next thing you'll be telling me is you've never seen Airplane!)

Spiderman is the coolest superhero. Except maybe Wolverine. Or maybe Batman but he's not really a superheor, is he?

OMG, are you my husband's lost twin?

Not likely; I seem to be the result of someone trying to clone my father and getting the gender wrong.

Sounds like he's a man of intelligence, though. Big into superdudes?

I haven't read that one, but I think this is what you're talking about?
