The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Hehehe....
I've been trying so hard to avoid comics because I know I'll get addicted and I just don't have the money. So I read webcomics, but Sluggy Freelance is really the best of those - well, that and Schlock Mercenary is oddly addictive. Not up to snuff.
But I do love superhero movies!

Jen, you need to see the
South Park where they made fun of Japanese cartoons:) It turned out that the Emperor Hirohito was using the game Chinpokomon to try to brainwash American kids in preparation for another Pearl Harbor:

It's not that I hate South Park. It just really, really scares me. I may never get over the scars from that Entmoot thing, and that was only two episodes.

Afraid is healthy.... It really shouldn't be viewed by anyone. Says so in the intro screen.

I've been trying so hard to avoid comics because I know I'll get addicted and I just don't have the money. This is true. You can get around this problem somewhat if you read reprints, which are collected in series that are available at libraries and bookstores; if you go to conventions and buy old issues from the 5-for-$1 box, or to used bookstores which also sometimes have old issues cheap; and if you restrict yourself to only actually buying new issues of a few select titles. For the most part I just read old issues; I don't even try to keep up with the new stuff anymore, it's too expensive and usually not as good. The X-Men were at their peak from about #94-175, most of which is available in reprint; likewise the best Spider-Mans and Batmans are mostly available in reprint. If you check a book about Spider-Man or Batman out of the library it will summarize the plots going all the way back to the beginning of the series, then you know what issues to look for. DK publishes a series called Ultimate Guide to different superheroes which is a really good introduction:
Spider-Man: The Ultimate Guide
Batman: The Ultimate Guide to the Dark Knight
X-Men Updated Edition: The Ultimate Guide

Update on Corin's Mom! Corin just talked to his mom. The doctor gave her two choices. Either a lumpectomy and follow-up radiation which means they may not be sure they have it all. Or she can go ahead and have a mastectomy and they can be sure they get everything.
She is leaning toward the mastectomy and Corin feels like he agrees after having been through radiation himself. If all goes according to plan, she will decide tonight and the surgery will be next Thursday.
Okay, we've got a nice prayer target ahead of us folks for the next week. God is going to see this through to complete healing. Ya'll know Corin is *very* thankful for every one of your prayers!

It just really, really scares me.Same here, and I've watched many episodes.
It's shock-inducing comedy - meant to traumatize ANYONE who watches it, but after you've seen the Mecha-Streisand episode, you start to understand the madness behind it...and that is REALLY scary!!! LOL!!
