The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Think my favorite Hanna Barbera character was Snagglepuss, well, him or Smeadly.

Heavens to murgatroyd! You just gave me a major flashback!

Then he's gonna put 2x3s horizontally on the studs and put strips of insulation between those. I've never seen it done that way, but we'll end up with 9" thick walls that will make the place VEY cozy!

Oh wow! I've never seen it done that way either, but it sure will make the place warm and toasty!

Good morning!

Ugh...we got more snow last night than we did the night before, when we were SUPPOSED to get snow. Why me? *whimper*

Morn'n ladies!

I'd just like to go on record as saying "I'M TIRED OF SNOW!!"

C'mon already! I've got yard work to do and my daughter's birthday party is in 3 weeks! I can't abide this weather!

Good morning! Sorry about the snow, Rosie!

We are due for rain/wind/etc. today...just another typical Western Washington day.

Today I try out my new wireless connection at work and see if I can get online without being "tracked." Yesterday, I had a ball listening to TTT DVD on my new laptop with no one the wiser. Heh, if the bosses only knew what they started by getting me riled up over these dumb internet rules!

We got a dusting last night. Not enough to fuss over, but it did make everything all purty in the early morning light.

Plant fall bulbs. My crocuses (and soon, daffydills) are blooming and making me all happy- in spite of the snow.

I've got MONTHS before I can safely plant flowers. Sigh...

Well, at least a month and a half. We sometimes get snow in late April.

And I didn't really get any bulbs in. Bought 'em and was too late getting them in the ground AGAIN. I may plant them anyway in some out of the way place and hope I at least get green.

I don't read LotR fanfiction (it's just wrong, wrong I say! though I'm sure some of it's good). I'd suggest checking links off of some of the big fan forums.

Cassandra Claire was a girl who, in two different fandoms, attracted a whole gang of teenage worshippers who then went around insulting anyone who wasn't Cassandra Claire. Most of it was not her fault, she just had this personality... but she did these "Very Secret Diary" things - have you see them? in LotR fandom. Um, they were disgusting. More because... I looks at LotR and see glory and honor and courage, and apparently she looks at LotR and sees sex.

At least we had powdery snow...so it wasn't hard to clear off.

Exactly why I have such a crush on Boromir! :)

Yes, powder here too, but there was ice underneath on my car. The roads are good. It's just cold and nasty and I want warm weather.

Heehee, well it works outside the building on the street. I'll have to check and see if it will connect when I get inside the building!
