The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Ah well, I will probably end up on the couch anyway since I get up every night around 1:00am with a backache (only 6 more weeks till babydue!!!).

Sorry to hear your back's bothering you. It's good the baby's due, though! :) Is the backache from carrying the baby?

I am really excited about today's purchases. They are really the first maternity clothes I have bought this time around. Some, I had from elf-boy (two blouses, and two dresses), and two outfits (a jumper and slacks-n-top) my mother sewed for me. The rest of my clothes are just oversized. What I was wearing at JT-moot was just oversized.

It feels so good that have clothes that fit correctly!

I think it is. It has somethign to do with sleeping on a flat mattress. Inevitably, I sleep on my back. Can't help it, even though I am not supposed to do that. Soemthing about cutting off the blood supply to the baby. Anyway, Sleeping on a firm mattress gives me the worst backache.

Usually, I go downstairs and sleep on the couch. No aches from that, hehe, but it is a bit too short for me (it's a love seat). It's funny to stretch out!

Well, I hope they're comfortable for you! My most loved maternity clothes were when I finally got myself some jeans! I missed wearing them during that middle part where you're just a bit big for regular clothes but not quite to the maternity wear part.

I ended up wearing a lot of loose dresses with Myranda 'cause it was during this time of year when I just needed to stay cool and comfortable. With Jill I had to have winter clothes! eeek... I didn't like those in maternity stuff. Very bulky!

Ya'll are talking classics... I brought home a pile of videos from my aunt's this week. She's got beaucoups of old westerns. I just got through watching a Gene Autry one and am watching Roy Rogers now! I haven't watched any of these in years!

Today's purchase consisted of two outfits, one of them OKAY to wear to a job interview, and the other a pair of khaki pants with a short sleeve denim blouse. Incredibly comfy!

By using a Mössbauer Spectrometer mounted on Opportunity's robot arm, a patch of the tiny spherules -- also called "blueberries," although they aren't blue -- received close examination and have now been identified as hematite.

Hematite! Cool!

I've had back problems like that from sleeping on a mattress that was too firm, too. Also sometimes my pillow can affect it.

Oh, I like those, too! :) Recently got a DVD with a bunch of old Westerns on it; also listen to tapes of old radio Westerns. A couple others I like are Gunsmoke and The Lone Ranger.

I sent a message to SteelWolf letting him know I was here. I invited him to drop by the hole and told him about all the good things you folks have done for us. I received a reply and he said he would drop by first chance he got and was glad to know that there were others here. Anyone that wants to drop him a welcome note feel free.

Hi Steve. You're probably already gone but good to hear from you. I dropped off a note to SteelWolf. Hope you two get together sometime to say hello. I let him know that we'd be happy to drop him off a package to show him just a little smidgeon of our appreciation if he sent his address.

Hope all is well for you today. It was 88 degrees and sunny in north Texas today with a light breeze! Absolutely wonderful day here! Hope yours is the same. God Bless!

For semihumorous SF apropos of St. Paddy's day, I'll throw in "Cowboy Feng's Space Bar & Grill" by Stephen Brust.

Please explain.

My fandom was "Harry Potter", and our author was flattered by fanfic. But McCaffrey aparently dislikes it...

I discovered fan fiction through Zimmer Bradley's Darkover universe. I used to read her voraciously as a young woman.

stories that romantically link Spock and Captain Kirk

There are so many things wrong with this I don't even know where to begin. I mean, even if they were both flamers, I still couldn't see it.
