My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and I...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

My Star
All that I know
Of a certain star
Is, it can throw
(Like the angled spar)
Now a dart of red,
Now a dart of blue;
Till my friends have said
They would fain see, too,
My star that dartles the red and the blue!
Then it stops like a bird; like a flower hangs furled:
They must solace themselves with the Saturn above it.
What matter to me if their star is a world?
Mine has opened its soul to me, therefore I love it.

It's one of the songs I put in in the background of the video of photos and old 8 mm films I customized for my parent's 50th anniversary back in 97.

We had 100 people at the country club and played it on the big screen. Photos and films covered from their childhood through great grand children. I picked the songs based on the era of each group of photo's and film. Lots of sniffing and eye dabbing and then everyone wanted a copy. I was way ahead and had made copies in advance. Combined with 6 poems I wrote and read about my parents, I was the envy of my 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Anytime someone goes to see my parents, mom makes them watch the video and reads them my poems.
I am a bad person but a great son.

The Climb I climbed a mountain one fine day
Searching for a narrow way
Up I went, the cool air thinning
Searching for my new beginning.
I reached the top and looked around
The cirrus clouds obscured the ground.
To climb so high was quite a test
My aching limbs cried out for rest.
I hoped to find that guru famous
To answer from an ignoramus
The question burning in my mind,
When will my life at last turn kind?
But looking round, I could not spy
The man, secreted off nearby
Could my climb have been for naught?
My heartbreak left me near distraught.
The friendly Sun then stuck its head
Deep down into my house of dread
The warmth it cast burned to my soul
And bade me leave depressions roll.
A heavy heart has weight untold,
The Sun said, greater than your bold,
And failed plans that crush you so,
That strangle joy and loves sweet flow.
You speak the truth, my heart replied,
Yet how should I, my bliss denied,
Recover from this fall from grace,
"Oh wise Sun, and renew my pace?
The Sun smiled patiently, and said,
The answer lies inside your head.
To leave a hole theres just one way,
Your heart must climb just like today.
I nodded, knowing Sun was right
Dreading descent back into night
But then the Sun removed its veil
And gave me strength to blaze the trail.
I saw your pretty face appear
Your eyes, near which I know no fear
Your shape, so perfect in my arms
Your kiss, and warmth, Gods perfect charms.
My heart remains too far from you
I miss you more than I should do.
Yet if our love takes mountains climb
Ill do it, real or in rhyme.

Shadows
A shadow has two parts, you know.
The one above, the one below.
Within the shadow of a tree,
Toward the light heres what youll see.
A shaded part of tree is found,
To join the part thats on the ground.
The joining of the two may be,
Inseparable, like ground and tree.
But as the world turns through the day,
The shadow starts upon its way.
To join its cousins in the night,
And leave the clinging one in fright.
The world has turned its face away,
From that bright light that we call day.
The darkness that befalls thereon.
Will stay until the break of dawn.
The night is shadows fearful half,
The other part leaps with a laugh,
Out where it dwindles to a dot,
Evaporating on the spot,
Unless the moon has ventured in,
As round the Earth it does its spin.
The shadow is a twin at birth,
Even when its mothers Earth.
With one that clings close to its mother,
And one that flies away from brother.
Its journeys length always depends,
On what befalls before it ends.

Excellent and quite thought provoking as well.
I'll expand mine.
My Shadow
I do not like my shadow,
He's always in my way.
Whether from the street light,
Or on a sunny day.
I step and he steps with me,
It sometimes makes me trip.
I have to go where there's no light,
To give this guy the slip.
I feel like he is mocking me,
A fan of his I'm not.
I like him best around high noon,
When he is just a spot.
He never has a thing to say,
At least that part is good.
He follows me or sometimes leads,
Around the neighborhood.
I really wish he'd go sit down,
And let me be alone.
I catch him smoking pot again,
That's it he best be gone.
