My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and I...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Okay Trike, you come on over to my side of the street.
Here's what I think is happening behind the closed blinds of the old brick house behind the garden gate.
I think the old woman there is reading poetry and listening to classical music. She is alone and has been for many years, he friend, lover and husband died over twenty years ago.
She reads to him. And the music are their favorites. At nine thirty sharp, she will turnout the lights and climb the stairs and go to bed in their bed. She will dream of their young, wonderful years together.

COCOON
Fluttering, iridescent, fairy wings
shy blue images in a cocoon
emerging gently out of the womb
Shimmering like jewels with
peacock eyes, gleaming, flickering,
humming endless love
a wispy soft desire
becoming soft fragile wings...

Love to chat with that lady, and to walk with her and speak of many thing would be a joy!
Here's something for poets.
Trike
Great Works
Great works, when mind and heart co-write the souls narrative,
letting flow the words that bring us into the realm of greatness.
Some times it is essays on humanity, or an epic full of imperatives,
or a story of legend past yet so alive, or a poem of some deepness.
We are captured by that work, and time slips from us so effortlessly,
as we travel inward to the core of the work, and ourselves as well.
Led by the words, we travel the route the writer laid for us so carefully,
and we arrive at the place they intended, and we find the truth of their spell.
Be it what it may, a great work is not judged by size, or word counts, or such,
but rather by the power it has to take us so easily into itself, to enfold one.
We are carried to a place the writer wished us to go, ourselves they touch,
our guides as it were to where only they can lead, until their work is done.

Hiding in the Shadows

Do not stand in the shadow of someone else
When you can cast a shadow of yourself
A shadow is your reflection on the ground
It must be distinct if it is to be found
Step out of the darkness and into the light
Display your personal talents without fright
A day will come when you are called to lead
Do not shrink from your chance to succeed
Move to the forefront and take control
Seize the challenges of life and be bold
Don't let someone else can take your place
You are a unique member of the Human Race

Is it magic to take a reader on a trip
into the inner sanctuary of our souls?
Great Works I think it takes a special magic to move a reader, to bring them into our night worlds, cause their emotions, passions to move. A special magic we hold.

My Shadow
I do not like my shadow,
He's always in my way.
Whether from the street light,
Or on a sunny day.
I step and he steps with me,
It sometimes makes me trip.
I have to go where there's no light,
To give this guy the slip.
I feel like he is mocking me,
A fan of his I'm not.
I like him best around high noon,
When he is just a spot.

Good morning Sam!!
Love the way the theme of your poem choice today blends in with Trike's poem.
The graphic is is just great.
Listening to Bob Dylan now, always did like him. Thanks much Sam.

Good morning, everyone! Sun is out here which is improving my mood. :)
When You Are Old
William Butler Yeats
When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;
And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

My ShadowRobert Louis Stevenson
I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me,
And what can be the use of him is more than I can see.
He is very, very like me from the heels up to the head;
And I see him jump before me, when I jump into my bed.
The funniest thing about him is the way he likes to grow
Not at all like proper children, which is always very slow;
For he sometimes shoots up taller like an India-rubber ball,
And he sometimes gets so little that theres none of him at all.
He hasnt got a notion of how children ought to play,
And can only make a fool of me in every sort of way.
He stays so close beside me, hes a coward you can see;
Id think shame to stick to nursie as that shadow sticks to me!
One morning, very early, before the sun was up,
I rose and found the shining dew on every buttercup;
But my lazy little shadow, like an arrant sleepy-head,
Had stayed at home behind me and was fast asleep in bed.
