The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I know a whole lot of non-geeky Calvinists... and non-Calvinist geeks...

Or do you mean that any husband I end up with will be, by default, Calvinist and geeky?

Evening All; pretty good day today; a friend and son (11) were over and we're making a red oak flat bow. The father and son are working well as team, yours truly doing the mentoring. They should be back for another session next saturday morning. Passing it along is quite enjoyable.

g'nad; we're fixing to have some more of mrsgnad's famous spicy potatoe soup for supper. LSA says 'the soup makes a lovely presentation', I guess mrsnad knows what LSA is talking about. How was the movie?

OT: the icicles are getting awesome, more than one is over three feet long. We just may end up with 'skewered squirrel'. hee, hee.

Corin; hope is well with the household, and Nana is recuperating well.

Wn; wow, you've fallen under the flylady spell too. Best go hang some garlic on the door post.

rosie; for a change of pace on science fiction, you may want to try Edgar Rice Burroughs (yes, the author of Tarzan) wrote a good series of SF on Mars. 'John Carter of Mars' I think was the first one, read them back in first age, but remember them as a good read.

Thanks OS. Nana is doing quite well. She's in rehab at the hospital. Things went well with the surgery.

There are other "issues" but that's another day, another story...

Naaa. I just decided that living in a big house all alone I oughtta be able to have the rooms arranged the way I want 'em. :-)

Just in case though, the garlic is coming up nicely by the driveway so I can hang some before too long! :-)

It's almost SPRING OB!!!

Brother Cadfael's about the best detective I've read. I like Sayers' Lord Peter, too, but Cadfael's so homey.

Plus, in those stories, the lovers always end up together, and that's more important than the murder. I think they're very sweet murder mysteries.

I just think it's cool that he was a Crusader before he 'took the cowl' and became a monk!

Got "the confessions of brother haluin" from the library. Been enjoying Laurie R. King as well, just finished "the moor". She has a several books about Sherlock Holmes' new female assistant, series starts with Bee Keeper's Assistant. Good reading.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

You have my sympathy. The scene at the Fords of Rivendell is wonderfully dreadful, are you there yet?
