The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

When Irish Spam is posting
Sure, it's like a morning snaig
In the lilt of Fedora funkling
Pippin's got points in the bag
When Hobbit hearts are happy
All the world seems bright and gay
'Til one post Pippin creeps up
And steals my Precious away. . .

This article was announced on another forum : BILLY BOYD IS GOING TO BE IN SAN ANTONIO ON MARCH 14 FOR FIESTA PARADE.

I am so jealous I could spit.

Here's the article

I dont suppose any of the HHDers are in San Antonio?????????

ta for now!!

GREAT RANT, Pippin!!!

Was told by a friend of mine last night...all conspiratorial you know...that have I noticed how the media isnt interested in reporting the news on Iraq anymore since Bush announced wanting to make an Amendment on Marriage...oh yes! He did it so people woudl be distracted from all the bad stuff going on there because he doesnt want people to find out how bad it REALLY is!!!

I asked her if she had noticed how the media continues to harp on gay marriage when there were so many GOOD things going on...

*sigh*

Speaking of that, did you ever hear the Mystery Science Theater Gamera spam song? Joe took the lyrics of a Japanese Gamera song which only had one comprehensible line, "Hirohito, Gamera!", and translated it into English, set to the music of the robots chanting, "Spam, spam, spam, spam":

Gamera. . .

[Spam, spam, spam, spam]

Gamera. . .

[Spam, spam, spam, spam]

Gamera is really neat!

He is full of turtle meat!

We've been eating Gamera!

Shell, Teeth, Eyes, Flames

Claws, Breath, Scales, Fun!

Gamera. . .

[Spam, spam, spam, spam]

Gamera. . .

[Spam, spam, spam, spam]

Gamera is really neat!

He is filled with turtle meat!

Now we have Commercial Sign!

No, I've never seen that! I like MST3K but I haven't seen much of it. Sigh. I have top geek credentials in online and book cultural stuff, but the TV things, I don't know.

Heck, I've only seen a dozen hours or so of Monty Python!

Filking?! I had to look that up :)

Filk Defined

Filk is a subset of folk music that is practiced in, by and for the Science Fiction and Fantasy community. The term 'filk' was originally a typographic error in the program for a science fiction convention and the term stuck. People who write or sing filk are 'filkers'. In its earliest form, filk was the setting of new, usually humorous, words to old tunes. Filkers still write new words to existing tunes, but they also write songs that are original both in music and lyrics. These songs can be funny or heart wrenching, silly or deadly serious, or someplace in the middle.

Oh, I'd have thought you'd know that term! I use it occasionally to just mean 'creating song parodies', even though I know the etymology of the term.

G'nad, the tenacity of Ozark brush has to be seen to be believed. tell me about it... 10'-12' high saplings, 6"-10", laden with vines, and brambles growin' between 'em... at one point the tractor (30 hp), was actually stopped, engine strainin'...

Glad you got a power assist. heh... if'n I didn't have it, woulduh been a fire 'round these parts...

More deer plots? Naw... just clearin' an area near the gae so's tuh make a good first impression on people... pro'ly plant orchard grass, lespidisa and wild flowers... discovered two blackberry brambles we didn't know about... location and approach duly noted...

You can improve your MST3K geek credentials by going here:

MST 3000 Songs

Here you'll find such classic hits as "Slow the Plot Down", "Tribute to Pants", "(Let's Have) A Patrick Swayze Christmas", and of course, the immortal "Sandy Frank Song"--and many more! As seen on TV!

PQ HERE! I can't believe we pulled it off, gals! We surprised Wneighbor with the Birthday Moot and 2J too! Wneighbor is never surprised. She always knows about her parties (or plans them herself) and this time WE DID IT! She and 2J had no idea we were gonna decorate the entire motel room with birthday decorations. Way to to go MBY and PQ.
:-) We actually did something without her knowing!

I had a GREAT time! The company and the concert were fantastic.

Wneighbor always a blast!

MBY is very loving, sincere and kind! Plus she has great taste in picking out birthday cake! YUM!

2J was just as I imagined. Loads of fun and laughs and a terrific Mom. The jedis are very handsome young men and the most well mannered boys I have met. (Maybe I can send my JJ to moot with the Jedis, they can teach him a thing or 2!)

Bear and Rose are just too sweet for words! Extremely easy to talk too and super sweet!

I had an exhaustingly terrific trip. Fell into bed at 10PM last night after WN and I made record time from south Houston to Lorena in 3 hours flat! Mr. PQ let me sleep until 11AM this morning and made me pancakes and eggs for breakfast! Now he is off fishing and left me here to fill everyone in on the Lone Star Moot!

It was GREAT! I only wish there could have been more of the HH there!
