The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Ladies like guys to be very good at whatever they do, of that I am sure.

As for what constitutes and ideal lady, either to read about, or to love, I haven't given it that much thought, but speculation on such ought to be interesting.

Sex appeal probably tops the list, but even defining that alone is challenging.

True--that can be a very multidimensional thing, IMO.

Thanks!

OH well. I can still recite the whole jingle they ran when I was a kid: "Big mac, filet 'o' fish, quarter pounder, french fries, icy coke, thick shake, sundaes, and apple pie."

LOL! I remember a version of that one which added the line,

'Cause you / deserve / a break today

and the cup ran away with the spoon

Too true, but it is catchy. Much easier to remember than what they used to be.

I still remember the French Fry Fiends :)

Okay, just scheduled elf-boy's cyst surgery for April 15th. Gonna be bright and early. Ack. Am I crazy? I am not even awake at 6:30.

Me too. And when did they change the playground equipment?

In 1983 they changed it to settle a 12-year legal dispute. The case was filed because they were accused of copying characters and settings from Sid and Marty Krofft's H.R. Pufnstuf (compare H.R. with Mayor McCheese). After the verdict was reached they had to change some of their characters and themes. It's too bad, because McDonald's was a lot cooler before they started getting rid of the McDonaldLand characters--they used to tour and do live kids' shows with the McDonaldLand characters in my area, with a circus and everything. I also liked their Birthday Club where kids could get a free birthday party if they signed up.

PS:

(compare H.R. with Mayor McCheese)

I mean, not H.R. himself, but the mayor character on that show. Also the firemen characters and other characters.
