The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Oh no, I knew what you meant...my brother has psoriasis...(be aware, Houston Moot guys...in case you meet him). He took the methotrexate and the doc told him the same thing. My brother does drink, but he's not an alcoholic either.
I think my parents and Steve and I are the only ones even in my family of Southern Baptists that don't drink AT ALL... but my little brother switched to Presbyterian.

Here's the latest on Cindy's dad --
Just got a call from my Uncle. They are up at the hospital and said Daddy had a bad night. Irregular heartbeat, diareaha, etc. and the knee doctor said they were cancelling todays surgery. Im heading up there now and the cardiologist is supposed to be coming soon. Talk to you later.

Of the many things my dad went through after his burn, drinking was one of the things he had to give up. He wasn't even a heavy drinker, he just liked his beer. This was before he had been diagnosed with Hepatitis C (the docs called it non-A/non-B). They told him he had hemachromatosis. Either way he would have had to give up his beer.
He ended up substituting O'Douls. It wasn't as yummy as the real thing, but it did the trick for him.

O'douls would do the trick!
When I was pregnant with Joshua (my youngest), I CRAVED beer!! I was never a beer drinker before (prefered whiskey), had quit drinking completely YEARS before and suddenly I craved beer (and Steve's homemade yeast risen fried do-nuts).
Steve got me a six-pack of O'douls and it lasted my whole pregnancy! Actually, we used the last bottle to cook a chicken.

Hope you have a good trip. I know that Tulsa is roughly 5-6 hours from Dallas. Houston another 5-6 hours, depending on traffic of course. I have never driven from Dallas to Houston, only from Fort Worth to Houston, so my timing might be off a bit.
~sigh~ marketing at its best. I let elf-boy watch sesame street. One of the sponsors is McDonald's. I just heard him singing "bah-bah-baaah, I'm lovin' it." That is about the worst fast food I have ever tasted.
OH well. I can still recite the whole jingle they ran when I was a kid: "Big mac, filet 'o' fish, quarter pounder, french fries, icy coke, thick shake, sundaes, and apple pie."

Hmmm... I make Dallas - Tulsa in 3 hours... and Ft. Worth - Houston in a little less than 3 hours. Wichita Falls to Houston was 5 hours flat. And I wasn't driving more than 5 - 10 miles over speed limit.

I got all my clothes pressed and packed and toiletries packed last night,
food packed (microwave popcorn, soup in a cup, fruit and applesauce in pull open cups, some fresh grapefruit, cereal, fruit bars, and tuna no drain poaches)
got a camera, batteries, cell phone charger, jacket and umbrella
got my car vacuumed out,
got my clothes pressed are ready to wear to work tomorrow
got clothes ready and laid out for the drive down to Houston.
I know I am gonna have to sit and give Jason a whole lot of attention tonight so I did it all last night after he went to bed and early this morning.
Trying to get all the loose ends tied up here at work so I can leave right at 10:45 in the morning. And I am gonna have Jason check all the fluids in the car tonight before we leave.
Still need to gas up. Need to get cash.
Am I forgetting something
..my mind is racing
..can you tell
..
