The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Hmm..
Ever hear of Stryper, Daniel Band, Resurrection Band, or Audio Adrenaline?

(GWAR stands for 'God What Awful Racket', and their stage act.. well.. They dress in ODD costumes. The lead singer costumes up like a zombie..)

An unexpected party
came banging on his door
Soon his little Hobbit-Hole

Elrond found moon-letters
that hid a secret door
The dwarves said Bilbo's going first
That's what we paid him for!

Rose!!! {{{Rose}}}

Thanks for you nice message the other day. Didn't get a reply out. Yes, we're doing all of that stuff at once.

Dopey me. I have the power to stop it but now it has gathered it's own inertia... :-)

Audio Adrenaline - check! They've had a few good songs on the radio, but I've never heard a whole album. Mostly they're harder than my mother likes (and though I can buy my own music, Mom rules with an iron fist what goes on when she's in the house or car).

Hello, Rose! Good evening!

Wanted to warn you against inviting me over again, because once I go to grad school I'll be about a thousand miles closer and you might just find yourself with an unexpected house guest some spring break ;-)

Hyperspace - I'm cheating, in my story, and not using hyperspace or warp drive or anything. They use magic. Well, at least I skip the psuedoscience and go right to the mumbojumbo.

Hullo Ramius! - Gave Bay his first bath and clip of the year today. Was almost warm enough out, but I think he found the hose to be awfully cold.

I lunged him afterwards to warm him back up, he seemed frisky enough. He felt good... I am glad. An old man who lives across the street walked up that I soon recognized as old Dr. Smith, a retired veterinarian from Deschutes years ago. He started to tell me that hard lunging was not good for a young horse's legs. I said..... "Yes... but he is 22!" - "OH I SEE" he said. He said... "I assumed this was the baby you had in here... You had a mare and foal last summer". I said "No, I had an old gelding and pony" and I called over to the pony.

He was embarrassed a little already, but he then he said "Why are you working him so hard?" looking at Bay, standing there soaking wet. I said "He's wet from a bath, I am lunging him in the sun to warm him up from the cold hose" "OH - I see, I thought that was all sweat".

He was nice, and I am glad he would stand up and say something if he saw someone working a yearling horse on the lunge line till they were drenched with sweat.... But I had to think as a vet, he was maybe right to have retired when he did.

Then again, Bay prolly must have looked pretty good to have been mistaken for a yearling!

Then we saddled up and rode a bit.

Finished the last verse :)

Roads go on forever
But not so mighty Smaug
'Cause Bard can talk to little birds
like Shaggy talks to dogs
Bard's arrow flew like osagebowman's
Smaug fell like rain
But Bakshi's budget didn't let
him show Smaug being slain
Without Peter Jackson
This film should not be made
Ralph Bakshi's got poor J.R.R.
turning over in his grave

Funny story, by the way. Wonder if he needs his glasses prescription checked? ;-)

Or maybe it's just a compliment to Bay, as you said! Could be. I don't know nuffin about horses, but he sure is pretty.

Ouch. That hurts.

Hmm, thanks for the kick in the pants - I did 1800 words, mostly thinking up interesting things tourists would do if they were visiting Earth. Should finish off this chapter tomorrow.

Yup! - Soon as he learns how to ride enough to know what he wants, and to be able to test them out! Bay will be his teacher this year, we will have enough new stuff going on this summer, and be short enough already on money, that we might not get to horse buying ~right~ away, but my eyes are always open to opportunities I can't refuse!

LOL! Sorry--forgot to mention we were jumping into hyperspace! Oh, well, don't worry, we'll be at Alderaan soon. We should be there now, actually--hey, what's that small Moon doing here. . .?
