The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

In other Oscar news, experts said today that actress Diane Keaton’s style had now officially crossed over from Annie Hall to Hassidic rabbi.

ROTFL! All she was missing were the forelocks and the prayer shawl!

Elijah was King of Bacchus this year. This Carnival group (it's not a Krewe) was only formed in 1968 and always has a celebrity 'King'. I think Emeril Legasse was King of Bacchus one year, which is appropriate!

I was just reading about the group, and I think I was probably there when it had it's first Parade in 1968! I think they usually have theirs on the Sunday before Mardi Gras, and we always used to go to New Orleans on the Sunday before for the parades. I know I was there the first year Endymion had its parade in 1967. I just loved that name!

Guess what happened! You know the story about my friend who had the baby that was so badly handicapped? She fought a gallant fight and was doing well when at age 2 a EMS guy accidently killed her? Remember, my friend went out in the parking lot of the hospital after they told her that her daughter was dead and embraced the EMS guy (who was hysterical) and forgave him?

I saw her in Walmart this morning. She showed me pictures of her little girl that she had after this happened with her sick child...so precious.

I feel kinda bad though...I just cried. Here it's been almost 3 years and I still can't help but cry. She said "It'll be three years..." and I said "On September 23rd." She was amazed that I remembered.

I was sick for months after that that happened...just physically sick.

I do remember the story, so glad that she had another baby and is doing well.

She sounds like a wonderful person for her forgiveness of the EMS guy. Lesser hearts would have had her lawyer contact him.

That's so sad! I hope your friend is dealing with it okay--at least it sounds like she's pretty resilient, judging by her reaction to the EMS.

Yeah...I don't know if any legal action was taken against the EMS company or anything...never asked and never heard. But I always just admired her so much.

I just felt so foolish that I cried...I didn't want to make her upset...didn't seem to, but still. She was a brick, even at the funeral...I was a complete basketcase. I went over to Celeste's afterward (she was watching the jedis) and just sat on her couch and sobbed.

The whole situation goes back a long way...she couldn't conceive (red flag) and kept loosing her babies when she did. I was the FIRST person she told when she found out she was expecting again and had gone longer than any other time before. I was THRILLED because I was expecting Joshua at the same time.

Joshua was born in October and this little baby was born WAY premature in Dec. She had a lot of deficits...you can read her story here:

Get a tissue...I can't read it even to this day without breaking down.

Yeah, being that she and I are both RNs, we both know that mistakes happen, sometimes with devastating consequences...

She knew it was an accident, and knew the guy would need her forgiveness.

IMHO... Glock would clean up if they only offered something that didn't require the double-stack magazine. That double-stack grip is just too darn fat for most people and gets in the way of many concealed-carry options.

Try the Glock 36. Single-stack 6-rd magazine, and tiny. I found the grip too small for my comfort, but others may like it.

Just read the article. It sounds like she was a really neat kid. You can tell her Mom loved her a lot and is a strong enough person that she was able to keep the good memories without letting the tragedy blur them--good for her.

I literally collapsed in the kitchen when I heard.

Quite a sudden step up! :)

Yes indeed, but then he worked hard to land that step up so I'd say he earned it!

In regards to Las Vegas, I think it's a new show this year, starring James Caan as a Casino owner. I've never actually watched it before, but I kept seeing the ad on TV with Sean yelling "I just won a million dollars!" so I was curious. Now I kinda wish I hadn't, ignorance is bliss after all!

A sad case indeed 2J. I also had a friend with a baby tragedy (strangled himself by snagging a hooded sweatshirt on his crib) they are hard ones to take.
