The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I've been there...when I was in boot camp. I remember being somewhat disappointed because they were doing some restoration on the outside and I couldn't really take any decent pictures.

Then I embarrassed myself about a week after getting to my final duty station in Germany by telling about my experience, but said it was "under construction". The guys I worked with about died laughing...one finally managed to tell me I looked pretty good for my age...

I'm a little better now. At least everything's working. At 10:30, I'm going up to school and then sitting there between classes, thanks to my new computer...

Morning glories. Thanks for the History lesson.

When a government has ceased to protect the lives, liberty and property of the people, from whom its legitimate powers are derived, and for the advancement of whose happiness it was instituted, and so far from being a guarantee for the enjoyment of those inestimable and inalienable rights, becomes an instrument in the hands of evil rulers for their oppression.

When the Federal Republican Constitution of their country, which they have sworn to support, no longer has a substantial existence, and the whole nature of their government has been forcibly changed, without their consent, from a restricted federative republic, composed of sovereign states, to a consolidated central military despotism, in which every interest is disregarded but that of the army and the priesthood, both the eternal enemies of civil liberty, the everready minions of power, and the usual instruments of tyrants.

When, long after the spirit of the constitution has departed, moderation is at length so far lost by those in power, that even the semblance of freedom is removed, and the forms themselves of the constitution discontinued, and so far from their petitions and remonstrances being regarded, the agents who bear them are thrown into dungeons, and mercenary armies sent forth to force a new government upon them at the point of the bayonet....

etc...

We, therefore, the delegates with plenary powers of the people of Texas, in solemn convention assembled, appealing to a candid world for the necessities of our condition, do hereby resolve and declare, that our political connection with the Mexican nation has forever ended, and that the people of Texas do now constitute a free, Sovereign, and independent republic, and are fully invested with all the rights and attributes which properly belong to independent nations; and, conscious of the rectitude of our intentions, we fearlessly and confidently commit the issue to the decision of the Supreme arbiter of the destinies of nations.

Warm here, too. Amazingly so...feels like spring. Currently almost 40 here, and even warmer at home.

BTW, I ended up doing my workout last night late. I figured I'd feel worse if I didn't. Did OK, but I'm beginning to wonder if I'm gonna be repeating week 3 forever n' ever. ;-) It's hard.

Bummer! Well, I will hold out hope that they will bring it back after their film festival...you never know!

Besides, maybe they'll do another trilogy showing some day with the extended versions.

"There is still hope!"

Yikes!

Checked my internet usage last week when I was lurking here at FR, and I was over my paltry 20 minutes/day by 40 minutes!

I will have to fine-tune my time here so I can still hang out with you guys!

Popping rudely into this conversation --

I hope he doesn't try to counter his 'sweet boy next door' image with something awful, like an conflicted axe murderer part, or something. I would hate to see him trying to pull off a role like that to prove his multi-faceted acting abilities or something. He would be better off accepting the image people have of him in his role choices I think.

He is a very talented actor. Who else could have pulled off a pained grimace for over 9 hours and made it look real? Not an easy thing to do.

He should stick to comedy and light-hearted fun for a while. Or something magical and fun. We've seen the grimace. I want to see him smile.

Does he do volumetric stuff? Does he speak UNIX?

It's really only a small part of the job, but it's the source of our biggest headaches.

Chow Chow is a *food*??? I thought you were talking about the *dog*....

LOL! 'Round here, it is a mainstay, right up there with salsa. My grandma used to make and can chow chow, pear preserves, and various other yummies. Those two, chow chow and pear preserves, I remember the most.
