~The Dragon Flies' Lair~ VIII
January 29, 2004 | bentfeather, Poets of The Dragon Flies' Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Hi .. back already.

It went well. My appendix was hot, as determined by exam, so my GP was right from the beginning. Too bad I had to wait two weeks before it was done - would have saved me a lot of pain had it been taken when things were first bad.

I am healing well, there are no complications and I should be able to lift again around March 1.

That's good news, milk the "no liftin" for all it's worth at home. ;-)

Good news! Now if your incision cooperates you should be back to "normal" in no time! I'm glad they caught it before it burst!!!

One would hope, anyway, snippy. Thanks for the kind words to all. Here's my offering for this morning:)

Doubt
Helen Hunt Jackson

They bade me cast the thing away,
They pointed to my hands all bleeding,
They listened not to all my pleading;
The thing I meant I could not say;
I knew that I should rue the day
If once I cast that thing away.

I grasped it firm, and bore the pain;
The thorny husks I stripped and scattered;
If I could reach its heart, what mattered
If other men saw not my gain,
Or even if I should be slain?
I knew the risks; I chose the pain.

O, had I cast that thing away,
I had not found what most I cherish,
A faith without which I should perish,--
The faith which, like a kernel, lay
Hid in the husks which on that day
My instinct would not throw away!

Never give up.

Doubt

I doubt I could
throw your love away
even though my
heart is bleeding
from the trying
from the needing
cast it off like a rag
nay not I
I may like the pain
for a love that does
not ache
is it love at all?

But it's dead
you say
there is not
another day
for it to bloom
in the sun
and so I walk
in gloom
a dieing love
is slow death
but the Phoenix
rose from the ashes
to live and fly again...

Queensryche - I Don't Believe In Love
(written by: Chris DeGarmo & Geoff Tate)
From the album "Operation: Mindcrime"

I awoke on impact
Under surveillance from the camera eye
Searching high and low
The criminal mind found at the scene of the crime
Handcuffed and blind, I didn't do it
She said she loved me
I guess I never knew
But do we ever, ever really know?
She said she'd meet me on the other side
But I knew right then, I'd never find her

I don't believe in love
I never have, I never will
I don't believe in love
It's never worth the pain that you feel

No more nightmares, I've seen them all
From the day I was born, they've haunted my every move
Every open hand's there to push and shove
No time for love it doesn't matter
She made a difference
I guess she had a way
Of making every night seem bright as day
Now I walk in shadows, never see the light
She must have lied 'cause she never said goodbye

I don't believe in love
I never have, I never will
I don't believe in love
I'll just pretend she never was real
I don't believe in lovev I need to forget her face, I see it still
I don't believe in love
It's never worth the pain that you feel

No chance for contact
There's no raison d'etre
My only hope is one day I'll forget
The pain of knowing what can never be
With or without love it's all the same to me

I don't believe in love
I never have, I never will
I don't believe in love
I'll just pretend she never was real
I don't believe in love
I need to forget her face, I see it still
I don't believe in love
It's never worth the pain that you feel

Something of Value

Were I to hold you close
to my heart...to give all
would it matter to you
in the least that you are
Something of Value to Me?

While the moon is full
I reach for you
to touch your face
to feel your beard stubble
to snuggle near the warmth
of your body

wrapped in moonbeams
and rumpled red satin sheets
the quiet of a loving night
and listen for your
steady breathing
feeling the rise and fall
of you chest

oh would this moment
to last forever
as two in love
become one

tasting our joy
on the tip of my tongue
and the memory of that
indescribable night
burning in my mind
like a wild fire
out of control
yet, holding within
the borders of reality
