Five days after the Packers bowed out of the playoffs in frustrating fashion, Ed Donatell was fired as the team's defensive coordinator. Tight ends coach Jeff Jagodzinski was also let go. Story to come

"wining pct. of teams playing at home in 3rd straight conference championship appearance: 1.000"

I'm not so sure this even requires comment. Oh, okay, here goes:

winnning pct. of Eagles playing in 2 consecutive conference championships: 0.00

My favorite Packers play is when I get to see Favre block on a reverse or get to hit someone. I liken his grit to Phil Simms.

This year's talent on the Packers team was wasted. Poor coaching all season.

The Packer fan though is different from anything else I've ever experienced in an NFL hometown fan. The team, the coaches, the facility, and the fans are foulable in the way they see THEIR TEAM. Even a poorly played, coached, or poorly executed fan participation is excused with a "We'll do better next time".

No Richie Kotite lynching mobs or Marion Campbell witch hunts. A Green Bay loss is a reminder that just having such a great team in such a tiny town is a real honor to a Packers Fan. They are never ashamed.

Go ahead and pretend that the Eagles are better than they are

Season: 13 wins, 4 losses.

Since 9/28: 12-2

Since 10/19: 11-1

Avg. margin of victory, last 6 wins: +14.6

yeah, they suck. I wish they could suck like this every year. oh wait, lately, they pretty much do!

Enough to win this ugly game -- before their "special" teams gave up the desperate wing and prayer game-winning punt return to the Beagles.

how about the rematch when the gnats got their butts handed to them 28-10?

Let's face it, the Super Bowl this year is Indianapolis vs. New England.

Yep, that's my feeling as well. Personally I favor New England slightly because I always give the nod to the better defense in big games. But we'll see. If Manning can stay "unconscious", who knows?

you mean like those 49ers of the early 90s who "couldn't win the big game"? HAHAHAHA this is gonna be awesome.

Democrat party.....Democratic party. Which is it? It's not a matter of tense or plurality?

Socialist party/Socialistic party? Communist party/Communistic party?

This really bugs me and it has become universally misused. See my point?

I've been hoping some grammar freak freeper (which are plentiful when you don't need one) would help me out here.

Green Bay is pretty much the last refuge of pure sport fandom on the professional level, usually you only see that kind of craziness in high school sports. Which is one of the reasons Favre has done so well there and I honestly don't think he'd have had nearly as good a career elsewhere, he plays football the way Green Bay watches football: all out and crazy with a very short memory for bad things and an incredibly long memory for good stuff.

"Sherman's comments at his news conference blamed everybody but himself."

Sherman took over a pathetic team in 2000 and has gone 9-7, 12-4, 12-4 and 10-6. They have only to get over the hump, not start over again. Sherman has never gotten the credit he deserves. (In this regard, the Eagles and Packers have a lot in common in that both coaches are former GB coaches and both were able to recover from disastrous Ray Rhodes tenures.)

Sherman made some lousy decisions (not least of all was throwing the ball on 1st down in the OT, when Green could have run it up the middle for the next 5 mins and into the Eagles endzone), but your defense should successfully defend a 4th-26 100 out of 100 times.

I pity the NFC fool that has to play either of these teams in the Super Bowl. The NFC will have the weakest representative since the Giants a few years ago. The result will be the same.

Whatever you say statboy. I'm not blaming the Eagles for taking the gifts that the Packers gave them, that's part of the game. Good to see that you keep your rose-colored glasses right next to the remote.

"Undeserved?

I guess it was Westbook's fault that the NY Football Giants can't cover a punt."

Oh?? The Eagles expected to win on a punt return with a minute left in the game? That's some great play calling. Let's call it what it was -- a "freakish anomoly."

"It's also the Eagles fault that John Kasay, misses three FG's and a extra point on his own field."

And that is evened out by Ahman Green's futility and failure to move the ball a football's length into the end-zone at the end of the first half on a slippery field.

"It's the Eagles fault that GB can't stop the Eagles with 2 minutes left on the Monday night game"

Yeah -- successful 4th and 26's aren't because of blown coverages.

"It's the Eagles fault that Sherman makes bad decisions, does 4th and 26 come to mind? Then Favre hoists up another duck, blames Javon Walker and the GB defense can't stop the Eagles from getting the additonal 25 yards they need for Akers to kick the FG."

Moot point about a game that should have been over during regulation.

"Those games were there for the taking. And when it came down to it, the other teams couldn't get it done."

True, but the Eagles impress anyone with ANY facet of their game? Favre inexplicably hoists up for grabs a wounded duck into double coverage and you think the Eagles deserve credit for the INT?

Should this team go any further into the playoffs, I expect to see an entry into 'Ripley's Believe It Or Not.'

wins are a unique sort of stat, in that they're the kind that COUNTS.

Good to see that you keep your rose-colored glasses right next to the remote.

right, at home, while I'm in section 236 at Lincoln Financial Field making sound assessments. not like I've ever played the game or anything... (rolls eyes)

I used to love the way Dan Dierdorf used to rip Andre' Waters. I thought in a few Monday Night games that Dan had called 911 to have Waters arrested on the field for assault.

If anyone ever doubts that a 175lb. 5'8" free safety can't knock a 280lb. 6'6" tight end out cold, they need to watch some old film on Waters.

You mean the game played against a bunch of cadavers who quit three weeks earlier??

Quite frankly, I was surprised it was that close.

he was about to get hit by ike reese, and threw the ball to a player who had FAKED a blitz. or do blitz pressure and coverage schemes not factor into bad throws? are you just biased, just stupid, or both?
