From the column you posted it sounded to me like Harkin had more to lose than to gain by endorsing Dean. I wonder if this means that he's not going to seek re-election so can throw caution to the winds.

If he does, he'll need a lot of the financial support from the labor unions that are now backing Gephardt. He'll also need the activists and volunteers who are helping other candidates. (As I said, this is business.) Thanks Kay .. the Unions totally slipped my mind
Looks like a gamble Harkin is taking

Hi! Here is my weird chore this afternoon. My husband has a job interview with a mining company up in Ft. McMurray, Canada (almost in the Northwest Territories). He made reservations over Travelocity, who called us to confirm the address to mail the tickets while I was outside with the dog.
Their switchboard is overloaded, so I am typing this while I have an earpiece in and am on hold (20 minutes and counting) in order to confirm the address.
I am not thrilled by this interview, as I am quite satisfied with the job he has here. He does love mining, however. So I gave my blessing to the trip. I hope I made the right decision.

Dean's campaign has fired two people who were trying to infiltrate the Gephardt and Kerry camps and were caught.
To: Iowa Granny; Miss Marple
Campaign Carl is reporting that 2 Dean staffers got fired yesterday, when they got caught trying to pose as Gephardt workers.
To: Miss Marple
Wonder if they were fired for doing it or because they were so inept that they got caught?
Are you still on hold?

HA! We should work for Fox.

I finally got through about ten minutes ago. Air Canada doesn't do on-line tickets, so they have to mail them to us.
I must say, they need more people in their call center.
Still don't know how I feel about this interview. The job my husband has now is pretty good. Sigh.

Technology is so very complicated. Thank you for simplifying it for me. Makes my life a lot easier, especially since my computer is having some kind of mid-life crisis and I have to clue!

Afternoon Molly. Yes indeed, just think of the mischief the Deaniachs might get into if Dean doesn't win the nomination. Hopefully they are pretty inept at campaign infiltration, if 2 got caught in 2 separate campaigns in one day. Apparently, Dean is to do a presser at 5:00 eastern to address the remarks he made about Iowa in the past.

Canada huh??

5 ET??? Good. Then he might as well go ahead & schedule a follow-up appearance to explain the comments he'll make later.
That way he can stay ahead of himself....somewhat....in the foot-in-mouth dept. anyway...

Oil sands mine north of Ft. Mc Murray. Out of the blue a company called him and scheduled the interview.
I am not wild about this, as the company he is working for now has treated us quite well, and mining companies are notoriously fickle.
I am being called to be a supportive wife. This is a hard one.
I won't move to Canada. He is going for a living expenses in an apartment type situation.
