We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!!
Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
Moveon.org had been running a contest for its members to produce a 30-second ad spot that opposed the current president. Recently the site had been criticized for this effort as members produced ads that suggested a relationship between President Bush's leadership and that of Adolf Hitler. Now the winning ad has been chosen, and moveon.org has chosen its place in history. The winning ad is yet another "Bush is Hitler" type spot.
Gov. Dean has decided it is time he is no longer the candidate who is willing to speak his mind. In a move reminiscint of that great reinventor, Algore, Gov. Dean has decided to remake his image, and has now told the press that he is no longer going to be as available as he was. Polls show his lead over Gen. Clark shrinking dramatically in the last month. Maybe that has something to do with it.
Three possible cases of SARS have been reported in Hong Kong.
The IMF has weighed in on the US budget deficit, saying that it will hurt the world's economy by driving up international rates of interest.
Unusually warm weather in the Washington, DC, area is often responsible for the growth of many rather strange species during those periods. The recent episode of above average temperatures was no exception--the species globulus warmicus made an appearance. The species is noted for a dogmatic adherence to the as yet unproven theory the Earth is in a warming environment because of the activities of mankind. The latest sighting of the species was coupled with their claim that global warming will be responsible for the elimination of 25% of the world's species of plants and animals over the next few decades.
And, finally, in the "I can't possibly make this stuff up folks" category, in West Bend, WI, a man claims cable TV caused him to be addicted to TV, his wife to be overweight, and his kids to be lazy. He intends to sue the local cable TV company, saying his addiction resulted from getting four years of free cable TV--which occurred after he tried to cancel his cable subscription. Timothy Dumouchel stated: "I believe that the reason I smoke and drink every day and my wife is overweight is because we watched TV every day for the last four years." In response to the threat of a lawsuit, the cable TV outlet responded by saying: "Even though we consider our services to be a very powerful entertainment product, I dont think its reached a medical level yet where it could be proved to be addictive."
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

You feel the same when they're 19 as you do when they're 2, kassie. He's still our adorable, towheaded, blue-eyed baby boy.
Thanks for the continued prayers for his safety. Last night was not one I would want to go through again!
But the reality that our rejoicing is someone else's sorrow is a sobering thought.........

WEAX UPDATE--
Dropping the TP alert for the Washington, DC, area. Current QPF numbers for the event tonight will not amount in an *S* total much in excess of 1".

We love our troops and the families that support them.
Without our troops and their dedication, we would not be the nation we are and we, or at least I, would be very frightened.
My stepson was in Iraq as our soldiers were taking Baghdad and so, as a 'nother mother, I can relate somewhat to the anxiety you must feel. You and your family will remain in our daily prayers.

Good for you Pippin!
I don't claim to understand all the ins & outs of the issue on immigration. After reading the Live Speech thread it seems many people have different issues in the major issue. If you can get beyond the hotheads you see good points on both sides
I credit our president for trying to do SOMETHING rather just continuing to ignore the problem.
I don't believe he does things for political gain (maybe I am too naive) but rather I think he wants to do what is right for the country. I have more faith in him than 42 whom one knew was in it for his own situation. Never a doubt.
Grateful that trash is out for now & we can trust the man currently in the white house. He will NOT please everyone. That is not his job. Several on this thread over the months have mentioned "what one needs to do to win an election".. I don't believe this has been his motivating in most of his actions. PC is not Dubya's style.
He will do what he believes is right. If it means one term, so be it. I know he wants to finish his job in the next four years, but I don't believe he compromises that for what he feels is right.
I am not saying he does not have political actions/motivations along the way. I trust him to NOT sell me out.
Am I a crazy Bushbot that thinks he does no wrong?
No I am not.
I feel that socialistic things that are happening are a "bit scary"..
My political beliefs are still evolving - thank heavens. In college I was my campus president to elect LBJ & went to his inauguration.
I cannot imagine any one better to do the job in our country right now. It is easy to tear things down. It is more difficult to find positive alternatives. It is no secret that I am not the political genius of this thread. I am more comfortable speaking with confidence on movies, horticulture & exercise physiology .. but conservatism in politics and religion are also part of that formula & just wanted to add my humble opinion to the pot (and we here at ATRW are mostly a friendly pot, fortunately)

I don't believe he does things for political gain (maybe I am too naive) I think you're too naive.
That said, I believe the true issue is not whether President Bush does something for political gain--of course he does (to suggest otherwise means you take the bait thrown by the other party)--but whether what he does is for the benefit of the country.
What the Criminal Party would have you believe by posing the issue the way they do is that it is not possible for the President to do something that can BOTH contribute to him politically while benefiting the country.
Funny thing, however, the electorate as a whole is not stupid. Generally what is good politically is also perceived (and often more than not) as good for the country. It is only those damaged by the issue being wielded by the President--also a political outcome--that cry "politics."
What is really being said is: "Stop doing these things that benefit you politically, Mr. President, because they are hurting us politically."
If the Criminal Party is screaming the President is doing something "for political gain," you can be sure they are really concerned about their "political loss."

Thank you for thoughts Chair! appreciate you!
I have taken a few minutes during lunch to catch up on email (like hundreds behind)..
came across this.. It seems like there is some painful situations going on for folks on this thread.. some involve choices & future plans
@@@ There are times when you cant understand why you cannot do what you want to do. When God brings a time of waiting, and appears to be unresponsive, dont fill it with busyness, just wait. The time of waiting may come to teach you the meaning of sanctificationto be set apart from sin and made holyor it may come after the process of sanctification has begun to teach you what service means. Never run before God gives you His direction. If you have the slightest doubt, then He is not guiding. Whenever there is doubtwait.
At first you may see clearly what Gods will isthe severance of a friendship, the breaking off of a business relationship, or something else you feel is distinctly Gods will for you to do. But never act on the impulse of that feeling. If you do, you will cause difficult situations to arise which will take years to untangle. Wait for Gods timing and He will do it without any heartache or disappointment. When it is a question of the providential will of God, wait for God to move.
there is more but the text used is:
Peter said to Him, Lord, why can I not follow You now?

and other "grannies" .. including ME
ANGEL
Once upon a time there was a child ready to be born.
The child asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"
God replied, "Among the angels, I'll choose one for you. Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."
The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy...
God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you every day. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."
Again the child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"
God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."
"I've heard that on Earth there are bad people. Who will protect me?"
God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."
At that moment there was much peace in heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."
Her name is not important. You will simply call her "GRANDMA".
