Good morning, everyone and may the New Year bring blessings for all of you.
We had fun playing Guesstures last night, a form of charades, and even people who normally don't like to make idiots of themselves were willing to join in and play. Amazing what a glass or two of "liquid refreshment" can do to one's inhibitions.
One of our friends ran home to walk his dog, and he must have turned on the news for a few minutes (his son was at Time Square and he was a tad nervous) and he heard about the British Airways flight that was delayed for what Homeland Security calls reverse screening. Everyone wanted updates and when I went on FR to check out the REAL situation, everyone was most impressed. Of course later, that thread became a Caddy Shack compository...

I also remember that he was an X-42 backer. That's ALL I need to know.

Fox and Friends. I woke this A.M. and thought the weekend was here. No. it was THEM. Why does Roger Ailes hate us so, what have we ever done to him. Email him and you get a email back 'he provably won't read it at all'. I have a plan and here it is.
Let is establish a certain day and time that we ALL email him all at one time and that we pass it out to the other threads. Maybe, just maybe if a bunch goes to him like this he will take notice. I think we can all agree, they are TERRIBLE!

Delighted that you're feeling so much better .... and enjoyed hearing more about your trip. In the coming days we hope you'll share more .... about San Antonio, the Alamo, and other places.

Without fail, keep the elderly in your prayers and believe me, one day you also will be one of us Sr. Citizens (some call us 'old coots') and you will then know what I am telling you about. You always have an upbeat attitude Toby.. if you didn't mention it , would be hard to guess your age. Age is so much a state of mind.
and you are right about remembering the elderly..
but I would add one point - DO SOMETHING FOR SOMEONE IN THE SENIOR GROUP. It can be anonymously or with recognition.. and find one of the ones IN NEED. not necessarily the sweet person that everyone will help. Your day will be blessed - as you help & bless them.
Outta here for a bit.

About Mansour Ijaz ....
Isn't he the one who supposedly arranged the offer of Osama on a silver platter that was politely declined by x42? (GRRRRRRRRRR!!!) I think that story has been verified through other sources .... including comments by x42 himself that back it up.
..... Because of that, I think we all give Ijaz a high level of credibility. And if he could arrange that deal, his "sources" must be pretty impressive.
However, I think it would be a good idea to start really paying attention to what he says and whether it comes to pass so we'll know whether to hang on his every word.

Percolated coffee tastes better IMHO. But we use the auto drip because it's quicker.

I'll second what you said about watching the Rose Bowl Parade on HGTV.
Last year I came across their coverage near the end of the parade, while channel surfing during the numerous and lengthy commercials on the networks. It was a refreshing change .... they actually showed the floats rather than having 'celebrity' hosts who think that people turn in to hear them talk about themselves and who do such a lousy job of reading the scripts of corny jokes that one wonders how they ever became celebrities in the first place.
I'm looking forward to actually seeing the parade of floats this year rather than the parade of commericials and idiots!

My inclination is that Ijaz hasn't been that reliable. Not exactly sure why I say that, but I agree it's a good idea that we track his predictions. I'll help.
Mark Steyn, OTOH, has been 99% accurrate in his assessments IMO

Yes, that is true. I heard him say that he had supported X-42 and that is why he was able to get access with the offer.
On some things he is spot on. On others, I have no way of knowing, since he is getting information from shadowy sources in the Arab world.
I guess that old Ronald Reagan maxim holds...trust but verify.

Did you see where health insurance is most likely going UP 9 to 10% this year? I have the solution, I am started talking to my GD that she needs to marry a doctor when she grows up.

Good Morning! And a Happy New Year to one and all. Like you Iowa Granny, I've been a bit "strung out" w/holiday entertaining, so today I'm doing nothing more strenuous than reading a good book and going on FreeRepublic...oh, yeah, drinking coffee from my FR mug and toasting the fact that the NC Breck Girl didn't qualify to be on the Rhode Island ballot.
