There are circumstances that lead to kidney problems in kitty. One is bad dental hygine...if infection gets into the gums and then blood system, over time it can lead to kidney problems. The same holds true for kitty that likes to fight and gets the abcess and has to be treated for that infection.
My vet put one of my kitties on the Hills K/D when he got the kidney problem. Only thing..cat would not eat that stuff. It had no flavor. They aren't stupid..they know rice is not meat...I couldn't pawn it off on any of the cats. Even the outdoor cats that aren't picky wouldn't eat it. Then later, when Nacho started to have early renal insufficiency, the new studies indicate no diet change unless the values spike. After all kitty has to eat and if they don't eat the Hills special stuff they will go down from that...I don't think they know what really works. Cats have to have certain things in the diet or they won't be healthy...
I have not heard from the vet yet about the autopsy on Missie. The tumor is to be sent to the lab but since it is not time sensitive in terms of treatment I was told it would be a couple of weeks before they would know anything.
What I hate it the high cost of vet care for pets. I have always had multiple cats in my house..they entertain each other and and when we are away they are not alone. Now I only have my Taco and he is being sooooo sweet. He just knows Missie is not here anymore and he misses her too. The other thing that gets kitty with the kidney is age...and a kitty that is 18 is about 88 in people years.

You know O'Neill seemed sincered but I didn't know that the Liberation of Iraq had been signed under the previous Administration. That puts a new light on things. I never realized that O'Neill was such a bitter man either
And they way O'Neil was backpeddling on the Today Show with Katie .. I'm thinking he realizes he put his foot in it Big Time!
Anyway, what's wrong with short?
Not a thing .. being short has many advantages *L*

Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss, CG. I didn't know about Missie until just now. Taco and you will need lots of hugs from each other.

Looks like a few steps (waddles?) were skipped in preparing that duck on ice recipe.

Thanks,. Val,
Yes, there is a huge void in the house without our little busybody Missie. She was sweet to the last breath. She never complained. Her passing was expected but at the same time sudden..there was no warning. She had been in the yard sunning herself while I pulled weeds, then in the house for some pets and she got herself down from my lap and went to her waterbowl and had a drink, went to her litter box and then the next thing she was on the floor. If the tumor got so large that it cut off her airway, there was no coughing or anything...on the other hand maybe the tumor caused something to happen inside that we won't know until the vet tells us. In anyeven. Taco misses Missie a lot. He still looks for her and follows me everywhere. He is a cuddle bug now for sure.

Interesting.
Her head gets bigger every time she gets hit with anti-neutrons.

Keep hitting her with it. She can be a float in Macy's parade next year.

Well.. Sis DOES know a few AWFUL stories about me.
But that's up to her to relate them, not I.
(Right now, I deny having ANYTHING to do with people having nightmares, flaming pumpkins flying at people, scaring mummified drunks in pickup trucks, or making the road department wonder how a 7 foot tall snowman got into the middle of the road.)
