I have mixed feelings for my views are our neighbors who look over the fence and know if only!

Thoes who come from over seas that is different, but our neighbors should be tauted with the haves. If they are willing to work and respect our nation and they become good fisherman a day might come that their children will become business people in their own land for they attented the school of hard knocks.

We will benifit if we instill in many the feeling of being independant. They are a very industrious people they need to rekindle and learn, experience to beable to awaken the ability with in.

No longer will those on dole beable to remian It is a good healthy motivation!

Off to bed now!

You're just upset cause you weren't invited to show off your great gambling and voting skills.......

Actually, as my more recent trips to the gambling dens of Biloxi proved, my gambling skills and luck are equally non-existent.

From andysandmikesmom:

Hi Loddy.....glad to see that you got another computer and are back in force, online...

I have not emailed you for a while, so here is a little rundown on what we have been up to, here in the cold, frigid boonies of Olympia....

Decorating the house for Christmas, was, as always a big job....we dont decorate the outside of the house, but inside, every single room is decorated...some just simply, some elaborately....even the bathrooms get a special touch...the back bathroom, always has a large figure of a fishing santa, and the tree he stands next to, is decorated in ornaments only related to fishing....fly rods, poles, flys, fish, buckets, fishing hats, fishing vests, fishing boots, etc, adorn the 'fishing' tree....everyone gets a kick out of the fishing bathroom....

The computer room, has lots of my Christmas dolls set up, next to a small lighted tree....also my displays of Christopher Radko ornaments on stands with hangars...

One hall tree, is decorated in nothing but Celtic ornaments, Scottish bagpipers, leprechauns, claddaghs, shamrocks, Irish dancers, etc....part of BigDoms Irish heritage....

In the kitchen stands the 'food' tree...that one is decorated in lots of beaded fruits, along with glass fruits...thrown in is a glass pickle, a giant red glass chili pepper, a glistening glass hamburger, a glass slice of pizza, a glass taco, a glass watermelon slice, and the new addition this year, a glass platter, with a whole roasted glass turkey....A tree that looks good enough to eat....and drink for that matter....for there is a glass stein ornament full of beer, and a Chianti bottle glass ornament full of wine...along with a wine glass barrel...at the bottom of that tree, sits a large Santa, holding a bunch of grapes, while at his feet sit a keg of wine, and a basket of grapes...Santa is getting loaded...but its a fun and appropriate tree for the kitchen...

Another tree is decorated in nothing but patriotic ornaments....glass balls painted like flags, wooden ornaments in various shapes, but all painted like flags, and a few cotton sewed ornaments in flag material....added to that are the police and fire fighter ornaments....I even have lites in the shape of stars, and painted like American flags...Dom says, you need to salute, when you pass by that tree...

In the family room, ,there stands a large tree, decorated with ornaments that we have gotten on all our various trips around this country....wooden bells from Oregon, animal ornaments from the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma, Ferry boat ornaments from Seattle Aquarium, Sea shell Santa, from the east coast, a kitty cat that looks just like our dearly departed Dizzy, and lots of ornaments, made by local artisans...

The huge front room tree, is a mish mash tho....a combo of lots of different ornaments...ornaments, that I had as a child, and still surviving, ornaments that Doms grandmother brought from Sicily, , and that he remembers from his childhood, tacky felt ornaments that Andy made when he was a little boy, ornaments, that my parents had, and just any other ornament with sentimental value...that tree is loaded down and we cannot help when we look at it, but get all teary eyed, when we see ornaments, that have such a valued family connection....

Its always a lot of work putting up all these decorations, but we love it....thing is tho, unlike most folk, who take down all their Christmas decorations right after Christmas, we leave all our stuff up throughout all of January....we might be considered crazy, tho we like to think of ourselves as eccentric....

And now, that we have gotten all this snow here in Olympia, the Christmas theme of our home, seems to blend right in....tho this snow can be quite beautiful, its a pain in the neck....roads here in Olympia were bad even on Monday, so Dom called in to work, as he did yesterday, when the roads were even worse....supposedly, things were supposed to start melting today, but so far, no go....the ice and snow are still here, and the ice is supposed to be very thick...so I assume, Dom will also be calling into work today....its a fifty mile round trip journey for him, ,and coming home at 4 in the morning, on slippery roads, is not Doms idea of fun....besides he has 5 months of sick time built up, and still has several weeks of vacation time left, so hes covered, as far as getting paid....he figures, he will just use this time off, to sample all the new Christmas beers he acquired for this holiday....

Andy, of course, was down for Christmas...one of his gifts to me, was a new computer monitor...funny story about my monitor....I had noticed in the past few months, that I was having trouble sometimes reading my monitor...but I did not mention it to anyone, as I just thought my cataracts were getting bigger, and that I was going to need surgery soon....I needed to see the opthamologist, or so I thought...but then Andy mentioned to me, when he was down here at Thanksgiving, that my monitor, was no good anymore....so it wasnt my eyes, it was the monitor...Andy wanted to know why I had not said anything about it...well, when my eyes were first getting bad, I asked Andy why the folks who printed the newspaper, and the TV guide, and the phone book, were making the print so much smaller, never believing in my vanity, that it was my eyes that were going bad...so I blamed the printers...I remember Andy laughing, and rolling his eyes at me, as he does when he thinks I am acting lame....he told me to get my eyes checked....

So when I was having problems reading my monitor, I thought it best to just shut my mouth, get my eyes checked, and have cataract surgery....I just did not want Andy laughing and rolling his eyes at me, as he so often does....well, I sure blundered, because the laughing and eye rolling occured anyway....this time, it was the monitor, and not my eyes.....Yikes...foiled again....anyway, Andy got me this new monitor, hooked me all up, and had me come in and try it out....Man, my eyes were like electrified....I could see again ....thank you, Andy....

Andy had a big housewarming/Christmas party in his new home....I had bought him boxes of special ornaments, all tailored for him, his likes, and things to recall his various travels, and of course, some 'New House' ornaments....so naturally he had to buy a tree...he got himself a huge gorgeous Douglas Fir, and put all my ornaments on it....he says, he got so many compliments on all the ornaments, because they were all so personalized, and reflected so much of Andys life....I guess the most popular ornament was a glass palm tree ornament, decorated with little miniature lights....I remembered when Andy was on his world wide trip, he had spent Christmas in Fiji, and his remark, "Christmas in the tropics, rocks"....so when I saw this palm tree, thought it would be a fond remembrance ornament....apparently, all of Andys 35 guests, thought that was about the best and coolest ornament they had seen....so see there Andy, your old mom, can impress even your hip group....

Anyway, Andys housewarming/Christmas party in his new home was a big success....35 people showed up, and by 3am most were still there, so Andy wound up having to shove some of them out the door....a polite shove tho.....everyone just loved his new house, and they just did not want to leave...its so cool, because its built on three levels, ,and when you are on the 3rd level, where the TV viewing room, and the computer room are, you just feel like you are up in a tree house, surrounded by tree, ,and the view out the windows, is fabulous, a view of the lit up hills of Seattle....So he was quite happy with his party, receiving several housewarming gifts, and impressing his friends....

Dom and I went up to Seattle, the weekend after Christmas to see Andys house, still decorated for Christmas...I wanted to inspect all the ornaments I had bought him...instead of going out to a restaurant as we usually do, Andy cooked dinner for us(naturally hes a good cook, its genetic), and we had drinks, and sat around in his new house, in front of the fireplace, just enjoying one anothers company....Andy wants to rip out the old deck, and put in a new one, with an outdoor hot tub...says he needs that to soothe his tired muscles, from snowboarding and skiing in the winter, and water skiing and jet skiing and boating in the summer.....sounds like a big and costly project, but he will tackle it when he finishes other things he wants to do to his home...

The weekend after this one, Andy heads out for Lake Tahoe, for a three day ski weekend, with his cousins from California.....usually once or twice a year, they all get together for a big ski weekend, and catch up on all the 'cousin' news....I am glad that Andy keeps close contact with his cousins down there, as we are a small family here on the west coast....we are really a large extended family, but most family members are still stuck on the east coast in Pennsylvania, and New Jersey....they never travel, and cannot believe that we all love the west coast....the east coast people are all my dads people....but my dad and his sister, my dear auntie Helen, left the east, dad when he joined the army, and Helen when she got married....Helen and her husband moved to Cal, and never left....my dad met my mom in Chicago, and they stayed there, until they retired to Cal....but the family, never understood, why they wanted to leave the east, and they always thought Dad and Helen would someday return....they never did, nor did anyone from my generation....and now all the west coast cousins, of Andys generation, have no thought of going back...we are all west coasters, I guess, and we love it out here....so altogether, there are five west coast cousins, all meeting in Tahoe, for a ski weekend, ,and a time to catch up...hope no one breaks a leg....they are all very close, so this will be a fun weekend for all of them....

The house is so lonely without my Mr. Dizzy...once January is over, and all the Christmas decorations are put away safely until next year, I will go down to the local animal shelter and get a cat...I might just get two of them, so they can be company for each other, when we are gone on one of our many jaunts....I grew up surrounded by cats, and dogs, birds, and turtles, and whatever else mom allowe us to drag home...my own kids had many dogs, cats, and rats....and when there were no moe kids at home, I always had dogs, until the last of them died, and then I got Dizzy from Andy....I believe, the last few months, have been about the longest I have ever been without a pet...and I dont like it....so come February, some new pets will come to our home.....it will be fun and exciting, and most of all, it will bring new love into the home...for a pet, always brings love....

Well, Loddy, thats what has been going on around here....sorry to hear about your dads recent broken hip, and his stay in a nursing home....having been a nursing home employee myself for several years, I know, that there are terrible nursing homes, and then there are the good ones....and even in the good ones, things can go awry....overworked caretakers, understaffing, and just general burnout, can often make for a bad stay in even the best of nursing homes.....hope your dads experience, will be one of the better ones....often, its up to the family, to remain vigilant about their loved ones care....bug the staff, if necessary, let them know your concerns, if your dads care is bad, complain, if your dads care is good, a little praise goes a long way....(I know myself, should I ever wind up in a nursing home, I will be a devil to deal with, knowing all the little tricks to pull).....sad to say, but for many of us, if we live long enough, we may all wind up in nursing homes....

Anyway, take care of yourself, and best wishes in this new year of 2004...say hi to all those at DD/Freeoples for me.....hopefully soon, I shall return...I keep saying that, I know, ,but one of these days, it may actually come true....until then, say hi to them for me...

Cheers, all

The Un'nions had planned an invasion of Ea'rth. But first they needed a staging point that would nourish their floral bodies. They chose an insignificant black dirt community in southern New York that suited their needs, then the invasion began...
At first, no-one noticed the bulbous invaders resting in the dirt. Awaiting the signal from Tan-en-baum, their leader, to awake and begin converting the native species to fertilizer. One by one, the farmers disappeared. But then, Ortho came up with a better nutrient for the native bulbs.... And the Un'nions became overfed and went comatose. And the Orthos were the only ones who knew about the invaders..... and smiled as they ate their hamburgers with onions....

What one are you using. I have used a couple that are great and do not do that.

It waited for it's prey to come by, it's leather upholstery tempting it's victims to their doom. Waiting with it's siren song of comfort and relaxation to lure some weak willed to take a seat... Suddenly they are stuck! The chair won't let them go! Slowly it starts it's feeding process.. the victim feels their legs and arms grow weak as the chair saps their strength. Then it devours their soul once they are asleep and defenseless....
And everyone thought that barcaloungers were harmless luxuries.
