Now this is interesting. Consider a hit on NYC with the stock exchange open but the banks closed. Markets would crash, and the monetary and fiscal supports are unavailable. Can any of the other freepers speculate on the potential effect of this? Until I read this, I was pretty much discounting tommorrow as a potential day for a hit. But now that I think about it, maybe a sort of Pearl Harborish hit on the financial system tommorrow -with the government machinary closed- would make sense.

Just as a follow-up to my previous post. Consider the part of the message which states, 'the goal is open.' Others have pointed out in hockey this means the goal is undefended. In many ways, tommorrow, since the government is closed, the financial markets are undefended.
