If I were a true Dem...I would be so ready to join the "Al for President" campaign...he is the only one that comes across not looking like a reject from "Road Rules" or the "Real World", or maybe even "American Idol".

Seriously, I still think this is Hillary's campaign to make all the other Dem candidates look like a$$es. Which they accomplished, ad naseum, tonight on CNN.

The Dems are in a big dilemmma--go for the white southern vote and loose their black southern base or go for the black southern vote and loose the white southern voters who are unashamedly proud of their historical heritage. Large numbers of white southerners do not view the Confederate flag as being anymore racist than the US flag which was the only flag ever to fly over American slave ships. Most Blacks view the CSA flag like a US "swaztika."

Either way, they loose the south, which is indispensible for a electoral vote majority. The South is a solid a bloc of votes, just like California or New York, except much bigger. The GOP can win without California and New York, but the Dems cannot win if they loose the South, which includes Texas and Florida.

There seems to be a misunderstanding about Clark's role in this election. He isn't there to stop Dean. He is there to get face time so that he is a known figure when Hillary taps him for VP in the 2008 election. She needs a candidate that has, if you'll pardon the expression, gravitas on military matters, and Clark is the man. However, she can't pick someone whom no one has ever heard of before, so he gets into this race so that he's well known by 2008.

Of course, if he is a dismal failure as a candidate, which he clearly is so far, then Hillary may choose someone else, but that's the plan, as I described. She needs a man with military credibility and that man has to be well known, hence Clark's candidacy now.
