>>>>Alot of people will survive this. How will we get in to help them? I know NEST and FEMA have folks all over the place up there. I know we have rapid mobilization units on standby. Maybe we have enough assets in place, already, and more nearby. If we act fast, we can save alot of people.
FEMA has already built cities for us to be moved to. I'm one of the NY area people that will be moved if I'm not killed from the attack.
NYC area is an officially announced target. If and when an attack occurs, we will be in lock down. That means no public movement on streets. We can't leave the border. This will assist in maintaining control. If evacuation is necessary, places have been built for us.

http://newsmax.com/archives/articles/2002/8/6/183147.shtml Personally, I would like forewarning. I prefer to move to the sticks and fend for myself (including family). Realistically, I'm scared to death; but refuse to let the terrorists get the best of me. I lived through 9/11. Family, friends, and business partners didn't. But if I cave now, then they died for nothing.

But if I cave now, then they died for nothing. I couldn't have said it better. After 9/11 I've pretty much been able to deal with coming into the city under the high alerts and carrying on as usual. Lately though, all of this nuke talk has me very nervous.

Let me state for the record that FEMA is moving ahead with plans to create temporary cities that could handle millions of Americans after mass destruction attacks on U.S. cities.
Though the agency has denied the program to some of our readers and has made misleading claims about NewsMaxs original story to members of the press, the basic facts of the story remain unchallenged.
"FEMA Preparing for Mass Destruction Attacks on Cities," revealing that FEMA was seeking bids from three major real estate and/or engineering firms to help prepare for the creation of the emergency cities, using tents and trailers if an urban area is attacked by NBC (nuclear, chemical or biological) weapons.

FEMA, the federal agency charged with disaster preparedness, is engaged in a crash effort to prepare for multiple mass destruction attacks on U.S. cities - including the creation of sprawling temporary cities to handle millions of displaced persons, NewsMax has learned. FEMA is readying for nuclear, biological and chemical attacks against U.S. cities, including the possibility of multiple attacks with mass destruction weapons.
The agency has already notified vendors, contractors and consultants that it needs to be prepared to handle the logistics of aiding millions of displaced Americans who will flee from urban areas that may be attacked.
The agency plans to create emergency, makeshift cities that could house hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Americans who may have to flee their urban homes if their cities are attacked.
Ominously, FEMA has been given a deadline of having the cities ready to go by January 2003 in about six months.

Thanks for posting that Calpernia. I had read that quite some time ago but needed to be reminded. I must admit that FEMA has always made me nervous. I don't like the idea of any gov. agency having that much power and control over the people. BUT, I defer to you folks who live in large cities. I would like to know what you think of the FEMA plans.
My views are "skewed" because I live in a very rural area, we raise our own beef and chickens, and have enough supplies to last for probably 2 years. If FEMA came out here and tried to round us up I would fight them tooth and nail. As a city-dweller, how do you feel about their plans?
(I need a different perspective than my own)
