[history]
Monday, November 3, 2003
A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.
The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?
The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.
Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.
DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.
Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

Wow Donna, I never thought of it that way. Not only was it close with GW and Gore 2000 race, we need to look back at Ross Perot's independent run in 1996.

they will have so many radiation sensors sweeping that place, and so much security outside, the biggest threat is likely a body cavity bomber with a ticket to the game.
regarding the use of AQ as a proxy against the US, China's economy would collapse if americans stopping buy their crap en masse at walmart because we were hit. they want taiwan, and north korea is their proxy do accomplish that.

I believe, despite all public commments to the contrary, the fedeeral government has detected a major threat to the population and some major US cities. They are taking nothing for granted. Nothing whatsoever.
My advisement is to contnue with life as normal, but plan, plan and plan some more. Prepare in detail and coordinate with family on a worst case scenario and ensure your family communications and link-ups. Have a rendezvous pre-established just in case. Being prepped is half of the battle. She already expects or suspects the worst, being ready to react to the scenario at a moments is essential.
Self reliance and self-determination. You know what I mean.

Gott told investigators that he was angered when someone at the terminal joked about the turban he was wearing on his head, but Lee said the suspect has told other stories and his officers are still investigating his motive.
Thank you, thank you, thank you TexKat! I grew up in Kenner & today when I saw the article about the nude dude at the airport, I knew there was something in the back of my head about a previous incident at the airport that was kinda' off beam and it was the shooting over the turban remarks! Haven't been in Kenner in years but I guess the memory banks kept the turban incident because that's just the way my memory bank works! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm......got to think, got to think.....hmmmm...

Found this and am now REALLY concerned.
Puts everything in an entirely new light, and makes perfect and total (yet terrifying) sense.
If true, we are much bigger trouble than any of us thought.

I get to do absentee because of my disability. My alderman (dem) put me the absentee ballot list because I complained to his office that they moved my polling place at my building to 4 blocks away even though some of the other people in my complex still got to vote here (it's a five building complex).
I thought at the time that it was very cool that my ald. did this for me, but in hindsight, he was up for re-election and probably wanted my vote. And that trick worked that time, but he has never responded to any of my other concerns by phone or e-mail. I know now that he didn't care about me, he just cared about my vote :(

If they have what I think they have ("big mama nukes" pre-positoned on US soil < 9/11), it ain't gonna matter a whole lot (IMHO) that guys have rad detectors AROUND the stadium.
AQ could light one of these off miles away and unless we are scouring the ENTIRE city, we probably won't see it coming.

PS..I know you think that we can find the nukes with monitoring. I'm just not so sure. (They can be shielded with heavy lead or be underground quite easily).
I also think that AQ would have NO problem hiring ex-Soviet scientists to maintain these things to prevent breakdown and keep them active/tip top shape.

we are scouring the entire country via satellite, and probably have small aircraft/helicopter based searches in targeted areas, and even closer inspection by the ground based people like the ones who were on the streets of all those cities for new years eve.

Debka: Italian Il Giornale: Al Qaeda Threatens to Nuke New York on February 2
Special Report
December 31, 2003, 12:03 AM (GMT+02:00)
http://debka.com/article.php?aid=757 The banner headline spread across the front page of Il Giornale, the respected Milan daily reads:
Al Qaeda: We will destroy New York within 35 days. Threat on the Internet. Countdown begins.
The threat was contained in a video clip featured on a web site associated with the fundamentalist terror group. It announced al Qaeda plans to destroy New York in a nuclear blast on February 2. Il Giornale claims the FBI blocked and removed the web site.
The video clip showed three possible scenarios: 1. A bomb or giant fireball from the skies that will cover the metropolis with a radioactive cloud. 2. A storm of radioactive clouds that will topple skyscrapers one by one, along with the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge. 3. An explosion on board a charter aircraft that will cause a radioactive cloud to spread over the city.
The video clip was accompanied by large, red-lettered Arabic captions saying: If God wills it, the end of America is near.
DEBKAfiles counter-terrorism sources say they cannot verify the authorship or gauge the seriousness of the threat because the Internet site is no longer accessible. But the report appeared in a newspaper widely viewed as the flagship of Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi. Such reports - even if not authenticated - tend to contribute to the mounting sense of alarm generated by Orange Alert in America and other Western countries. It comes against the backdrop of appeals to New Year revelers to stay away from the traditional New Years Eve celebrations in Times Square, Romes St. Peters Square, Moscows Red Square and Londons Trafalgar Square or even Disney World and the Las Vegas Strip. All these sites are surrounded by heavy security.

Stay safe l`enn and comfort your daughter. This is so sad. Ever since 9/11 one of the things that saddens me so is that our children will never know America without the threat of terrorist attacks the way that we did in our youth. My youngest is a freshman in college.

Mr. Lomax, I'm certain that you know far more than I. I beg you, please share your knowledge. We cannot deal with a problem unless we know what is facing us. Ignorance is far more dangerous than certification. We are all adults here and are capable of handling whatever we are called upon to do. I am sick of being placated and spoon-fed a bunch of platitudes and pablum. I want the truth and I want it now. And so do many other FReepers and Americans. If you have any influence at all with the "powers that be", pass on my message.
To: TexKat
Still no sign of the original alleged article. I figured out how to search Il Giornale, nothing. Well, not nothing -- there were a couple of articles related to al qaeda and new york, but not the one referred to by debka.
