A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?

The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.

Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.

DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.

Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

A dirty bomb blast will be effective in a very, very short area around the explosion.

They have three components to worry about:

blast
fragmentation
latent ionizing radiation

Fragments are parts of the bomb, what it was packed in, and anything laying loose around it. These fragments will loose speed and power at an amazing rate. Just because you're near it doesn't mean you're going to be hurt. Consider the bombers in Israel blowing themselves up with large charges and lots of intentional fragments (many times, nails are used) in crowded places. The vast majority of people there aren't hurt. 99% of the whole fragment danger period will last one or two seconds literally.

The good news for us is the contamination will lead cleanup crews (using a Geiger counter) to itself like a beacon. If you're exposed during the initial attack a warm shower and washing your clothes will erase the danger. You need long term exposure to a lot of this stuff to have it harm you twenty years from now.

I'm torn here. One the one hand, part of the Mujahideen training with Jihad is distributing information about the Jihad on Internet websites and forums, distribution lists, circulating publications in public places, etc.

So we are reading second rank or lower Mujahideen information.

And what is part of terrorism? A small group of people who use a process to force political change.

What was one of the latest messages posted at the Yahoo Group? "Pull troops out of the Mid East".

The Mujahideen posting on the Net do not know anything about what First Ranked and Imaan are plotting. They are the ones that are expendable. So they just pump the propaganda machine.

The Muslims do have a tall order to fill though with the double eclipse Ramadan. But what could they pull off on such a large scale that we wouldn't catch prior to it happening? Our Gov knows where most of the First Ranked are. They are monitored while we scoop up the sacrificial martyrs.

This one is a puzzle to me. If we run and hide, we were terrorized. Success, low scale attack. And by mere second ranked. Bomb belt boys. Actually lower. They are only virtual Mujahideens.

But if the Imaan and First Ranked don't do something during this Ramadan...I don't even think a true Muslim will take them seriously anymore.

Chemical weapons are not weapons of mass destruction they are "Area denial," and terror weapons that don’t destroy anything. When you leave the area you almost always leave the risk. That’s the difference; you can leave the area and the risk.

Chem weapons are not gasses, they are vapors and/or air borne particles. Chem must be delivered in sufficient quantity to kill/injure, and that defines when/how it’s used. So open a window. There problem solved.

There are lots of kinds of radiation, you only need to worry about a few types, the others you have lived with for years.

You need to worry about "Ionizing radiation," these are little sub atomic particles that go whizzing along at the speed of light. They hit individual cells in your body, kill the nucleus and keep on going. That’s how you get radiation poisoning, you have so many dead cells in your body that the decaying cells poison you. It’s the same as people getting radiation treatments for cancer, only a bigger area gets radiated.

The good news is you don’t have to just sit there and take it, and there’s lots you can do rather than panic.

First; your skin will stop alpha particles, a piece of paper or your clothing will stop beta particles, you just gotta try and avoid inhaling dust that’s contaminated with atoms that are emitting these things and you’ll be generally safe from them.

Gamma rays are particles that travel like waves (quantum physics makes my brain hurt) and they create the same damage as alpha and beta particles only they keep going and kill lots of cells as they go all the way through your body. It takes a lot to stop these things, lots of dense material, on the other hand it takes a lot of this to kill you.

They signal when you've had a minor exposure to ionizing radiation (did you know you get exposed to this stuff naturally every day?). If your badge changes color, you've had a minor exposure that will have no discernible effect on you. The clean up crews will check the places where the most badges change the fastest after an initial clean up period. If you're exposed during the initial attack a warm shower and washing your clothes will erase the danger. You need long term exposure to a lot of this stuff to have it harm you twenty years from now.
