~The Dragon Flies Lair III~
October 18, 2003 | bentfeather

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guides
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

It will just be our little secret.

Our little secret it shall be
a little secret 'tween you and me
if we let others have a peek
to see... no longer will it be
our little secret...you see

Is this epic in proportion? It's my attempt to offer an olive branch to our RINO governor who lost his tax referendum on 9/9/03.

What did you hear?

September Nine, Two oh oh three,
You said you heard us speak.
You’d work to slim the government,
And gain our trust, it’s weak.
We haven’t seen you make a move,
That makes it very clear.
You understood just what we said,
You’re only spreading fear.
It’s time to act and you can be,
A catalyst for change.
Instead it seems you’d rather sulk,
It surely strikes me strange.
The man we thought we voted for,
We all were on your side.
Then you get to Montgomery,
And take us for a ride.
So either try and be our voice,
And speak up for what’s right.
Or cave in to the powers there,
Who taunt us with their might.
David slew Goliath,
With just a single stone.
We stood against the giant,
And noticed you were gone.
We fight it still and will prevail,
We’d like for you to fight.
So Bob pick up that sling you dropped,
And let your stone take flight.
We’ll back you up to change the laws,
Earmarking is a joke.
The pork passed through in barrels,
That pig aint in a poke.
The waste by public servants,
We all know who they are.
Must stop and soon, we look to you,
It’s really gone too far.
So speak up now Dear Governor,
We’ll back you when you do.
Let’s clean it up and when it’s done,
We’ll do what we need to.
We love our state and think you do,
Let’s pull her from the past.
Change comes first and with that change,
We’ll move ahead and fast.
So now I’ll close, I’m sure you’re glad,
I offer you my hand.
In friendship and in true support,
To help you save our land.

Yes, I think it is. That's good writing.

Me and Ferd share our contempt for organized religion. I am a Christian because of my fundamental beliefs. My faith is strong but I have never found a denomination or even a single church that I felt at home with. I pray all day everyday and make few moves without thinking, "Am I doing the right thing". When I see something bigger than me I turn it over to my Maker and my Savior and keep chugging along never second guessing the part they lifted from my burden.

The world is flat though.

I am in agreement with you here.
Except........
I don't know about the world being flat.

.......I don't think so!!

The Old Liberators

Of all the people in the mornings at the mall,
It's the old liberators I like best,
Those veterans of the Bulge, Anzio, or Monte Cassino
I see lost in Automotive or back in Home Repair,
Bored among the paints and power tools.
Or the really old ones, the ones who are going fast,
Who keep dozing off in the little orchards
Of shade under the distant skylights.
All around, from one bright rack to another,
Their wives stride big as generals,
Their handbags bulging like ripe fruit.
They are almost all gone now,
And with them they are taking the flak
And fire storms, the names of the old bombing runs.
Each day a little more of their memory goes out,
Darkens the way a house darkens,
Its rooms quietly filling with evening,
Until nothing but the wind lifts the lace curtains,
The wind bearing through the empty rooms
The rich far off scent of gardens
Where just now, this morning,
Light is falling on the wild philodendrons.
