Two socialist mayors were elected in the United States on Tuesday in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. which now means that four of the top 20 largest cities in the country have socialist leaders at the helm.
Los Angeles Councilwoman Nithya Raman, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) defeated incumbent mayor Karen Bass and will take office in December as mayor for the roughly 4 million residents of Los Angeles proper.
Also victorious on Tuesday was DSA member Janeese Lewis George who coasted to victory to become mayor-elect of Washington, D.C., a city of roughly 700,000 residents.
The list of socialist mayors in the top 20 most populous U.S. cities stands at 4, as George and Raman join Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
In total, the four cities are home to roughly 14 million people. That figure does not include neighboring suburbs, which could still feel the effects of policies enacted within city limits through crime, real estate values and the broader business climate. Problems in a city can spill over into surrounding communities, while suburban residents who work in the city may also be directly affected.
Counting the population in the metro areas of those four cities, roughly 44 million people could be affected either positively and negatively by the socialist policies enacted by the four mayors.

The title is ridiculous. Every Democrat is a Fabian Socialist. They prefer the term Progressive but it’s the same thing.
Many of these people in those cities are likely also deeply in debt. Google “consumer debt” with the name of the city (or state) and you get some very sobering numbers regarding that.
The communists that inhabit those cities will deny me the schadenfreude of watching them suffer, because they are too stupid to understand the cause of their misery.
It’s good to know that these 4 large cities will soon be utopian societies where everything is free and everyone is happy.
And 3 of them are women with zero world experience.
We’ve become a matriarchy. It’s not going to end well.
It'll lead to Islam.
And thousands of denizens of those Big Blue Rat Cities have invaded/are invading the South and Midwest.
“Electing” socialists to the mayorship of our largest cities is part of the plan to conquer America.
Sanctuary insane asylums.
The people of Los Angeles, Washington DC, and New York and Seattle will have to learn the hard way that Socialism and Communism work only as long as they do not run out of other peoples money.
These cities are or will become cess pools of violence, Muslim gang rape, homelessness , drug addiction, freedom destroying, and off the rails, whacko policies and whacko budgeting.
In these cities now, evil walks unimpeded.
What a laugh.
Coming to a nation near you soon...
Yes. It’s sad though. Low information, innocent individuals will suffer. Some will be slaughtered. Defenseless children will cry before they die.

From starvation, thirst and neglect.
Ironically.
Communists love solving imaginary problems.
I'd like the writer, Andrew Mark Miller, to explain how socialist policies could positively affect 44 million people.
The mayor in my city is a female democrat.
This election cycle included an amendment to curb state property taxes in a big way and it was voted in by around a 3 to 1 margin.
What was the first thing out of that twit mayors mouth after it passed?
She has no intention of changing anything or going out of her way any more than she has to, to facilitate the property tax change in our county.
I suspect her next move will be to find some other way to take the money off the taxpayers to offset the decrease in property taxes.
I can’t wait until she’s gone. Her total political experience amounts to her uncle being mayor here once....and he was a disaster as well.
