ARLINGTON, TX β Cowboys fans expressed growing concern this week that another regular-season loss could jeopardize the team's opportunity to suffer a humiliating collapse in the first round of the playoffs.
Supporters warned that unless Dallas turned things around soon, the team could find itself watching the postseason from home instead of getting everyone's hopes up, choking in the first round, and then watching the playoffs from home.
"We have to start winning some football games if we want to the chance to embarrass ourselves in January," said lifelong fan Mike Hensley. "I would hate to give up on the Cowboys now instead of getting strung along all season. The glimpses of talent, the 11-6 record, the brutal meltdown, it's all part of our tradition. We have a reputation to uphold."
The Cowboys have struggled out of the gate, falling to a 2-4 record ahead of tonight's tilt against the Philadelphia Eagles. "It's been disappointing. This isn't what we expected from the Dallas Cowboys," said CBS sports analyst Kent Traylor. "They're supposed to play well right up until it counts, then completely choke it all away. They're running out of time to make it happen."
At publishing time, fans of the other 31 NFL teams had also expressed hope that Dallas would make the playoffs and play their team in the first round.

Painfully true!
Once again The Bee skiifully rides that razor thin edge between satire and reality.
Nobody does it better. π
NFL officials and Judges on election decisions, not much difference. The games all get flipped in the last ten minutes.
The best thing about the Cowgirls has always been their cheerleaders with costumes originally from a Dallas strip club. In Philly, we love to see the Cowgirls lose anytime.
A lot of people blame Jerry. I blame his sons.....................
Itβs the Dallas Cowgirls, right?
Wrong league for that sex.
Saw this comment recently: “Down in Texas there are several 5A & 6A high schools football teams that have better defenses than the Cowboys”
Unfortunately true ...
I used to be a long suffering Jets fan. Because there is no other kind.
I came upon the realization that there are Cowboys fans that are under 40 that have NEVER SEEN THE COWBOYS IN A SUPERBOWL.................
It is time for Cowboy fans to recognize the blinding flash of the obvious. Number one: They aren’t going to the playoffs this season. Number two: Jerry jones needs to retire so they can get a needed change in ownership. Number three: The new owner needs to overhaul to whole team from top to bottom. Number four: The vision needs to be develop a team to compete for a Super Bowl appearance three to four years in the future (Patience, Patience, Patience).
Even a bad Dallas D-line is going to frustrate Tanner McKee, and the Giants could lose their next 4 and that would surprise no one. Which still plays straight into the Bee’s playoff projection.
I think we are going to get smoked tonight. Too banged up.
I always like to see that egotistical ass hat Jerry Jones lose.
No need to worry.
Any day now, the Jets will trade away a few more draft picks for some of the current Dallas Cowboy "stars."
