The Democrat Party’s youth movement appears to be in complete shambles as the DemocracySummit 2026, what was slated to be a “a powerful day of organizing, learning, and civic renewal,” had absolutely abysmal attendance in Austin, Texas.
Despite boasting a star-studded slate of progressive speakers like former Vice President Kamala Harris, Sens. Mark Kelly and Chris Murphy, Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, and Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin, the venue appeared to be completely empty.
Footage uploaded to social media by Turning Point executive Tyler Bowyer showed a near-empty room during remarks delivered by Democrat Mark Kelly, who many have pushed as a potential dark horse in the 2028 presidential primaries. Another video published by Current Revolt seemed to indicate that right-wing comedian Alex Stein drew the largest crowd of the event following a debate with progressive streamer Destiney.
The startlingly poor attendance for a progressive event, one hosted deep in the heart of Talarico country, is an ominous sign for Democrats who hope to flip Texas despite questionable polls that claim razor-thin margins in the red state.

If they could only get very small turnout in Austin, home of the University of Texas, they’ve got a huge problem. On the other hand, the University of Texas has a very competitive admissions process. Very smart students, so they aren’t likely to fall for the socialist agenda in large numbers.

Since Dan Patrick is not running for Senate against Talarico, I suspect you are correct that Talarico will get more votes for Senator than Dan Patrick.
Patrick will, however, handily win Lt Gov. And Ken Paxton will crush Talarico.

Leftist Emerson polling has Paxton up 1, which means Paxton should win by no less than 8%.
The upholding of measure used to prevent traditional cheating measures used by Democrats in Harris, Dallas, Travis, and Bexar counties (eg photo ID, ID for mail in, restrictions on mail in and bundling) will likely also have a tremendous effect as will the removal of thousands of illegals from the rolls.
It must have been a dark night if those are the stars that studded it.

Cruz trailed by 4-8 points until election night and won by 4-5.
