Carter is as bad as democrats ...or anyone else for that matter...get. Gave away the Panama Canal too. The filth.
I don’t think there was much any of us could do. Too many protests over there and the students here funded with oil money didn’t care much for him.
Carter will have a lot to answer for. I don’t think any President is more responsible for emboldening America’s enemies.
Giving away the Panama Canal wasn’t a great move either.
There is a reason why Iran has F14s, and when they got them they were still “bad ass.” They received M60 tanks, M113s, M109, all systems we were still using ourselves in the 70s. Iran was an ally and even though the Shah was a despot, he was a somewhat benevolent dictator (far better than what followed) and friend of the West. He was “modern” thinking and all about growth and development.
Sadly, it was dumb college kids and women that pushed for the toppling of the Shah (they were a large force). You think they saw what came next? LOL
Carter didn’t blunder and he didn’t act through cowardice. He was a saboteur, plain and simple. Like obama, he inflicted as much damage as possible every single day until we threw him out. Creating the first islamo-terrorist state was his lasting glory.
If the US had gotten rid of the Shah in a timely way, the Khomeni revolution never would have happened.

Just heard a story the EU built a Palestinian official office in the north-east section of the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) which according to the Oslo deal that Europe signed onto, is Israeli controlled land. No permits they just built it. The entire area is divided into A, B and C. A is Arab control. B is joint control. C is Israeli control. Europeans are financing construction of tens of thousands of unpermitted homes in area B and C that sit mostly empty. They are trying to not just break the treaty but create a defacto permanency - which is what they complain about when Israeli citizens move into Areas B or C.
It is clear now we should cut them loose on many fronts. We are spending a fortune on Ukraine and it doesn’t mean squat to us. We are covering the cost in blood and treasure of securing the Red Sea and the Gulf of Oman/Hormuz strait which we don’t need for ourselves directly - only to prop up European and Asian trade. We now know they had 60% enriched uranium, could have built 11 warheads in no time AND that they had rockets that can hit Berlin, Paris and London. Why do we bother with them at all? Trade, fine. Defend and get outselves entangled with their idiotic diplomatic crises? Faggetaboutit! Either they back us up 100% or they get the cold shoulder.
