The Onion Will Illegally Publish Infowars on July 2nd

Alex Jones’ Infowars has been in legal limbo as Jones and The Onion fight for control in the courts.

However, The Onion plans to publish under the Infowars brand without legal permission on July 2. CEO Ben Collins plans to launch a new version that is anti-Jones, according to MS Now, aka MSNBC. Collins said they won’t wait for the courts. It is illegal to violate a court order.

The Story

CEO Ben Collins wrote in a staff memo shared with MS NOW that they will open their Infowars on July 2. The new website and social media channels will feature original programming, including a parody of Jones’ old show, and will route more than $100,000 to the Sandy Hook families, an initial payment drawn from rainbow-colored Infowars merchandise The Onion has sold in anticipation of its takeover.

They posted once, only briefly, and it was no Babylon Bee. It went beyond Jones into bashing Republicans.

We are guessing the new Infowars will be like Media Matters with a Colbert-style comedic slant.

The fate of the Infowars brand, physical offices, property, and website has been in legal limbo since 2022, when the extraordinary defamation verdicts were handed down against Jones for his false claims that the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School had been a hoax.

Jones and his business filed for bankruptcy, and in 2024, to satisfy his debts to the Sandy Hook families, who faced years of harassment and threats stemming from Jones’ claims, a judge ordered a sale of assets held by his company, Free Speech Systems.

The Onion bid on Infowars and won, but the secret sale, not open to other bidders, was judged illegitimate A federal judge vacated the sale, citing transparency issues and a competing bid from a company tied to Jones’ supplement business.

So, now The Onion will break the law.

The Onion is lame. Comparing it to the Babylon Bee is like comparing Goofus and Gallant to Spy vs Spy.

They used to be somewhat even handed and very funny on occasion. Now the Onion is just another boring leftist TDS screed.

The opposite of satirical humorists would be fanatical ideologues, who take themselves so seriously that they cannot accept critical humor. It’s interesting how those controlling the Onion are shifting from the humor side to the ideologue side in their seemingly partisan take regarding Infowars. They’ve long since been passed in the humor department by the Babylon Bee, but in the future I doubt the Onion will even qualify as an also-ran in the humor competition, kind of like late night talk shows.

The Onion did a great series of faux stories on Biden back in 2009:

Unfortunately they seem to have taken them down.

I guess somewhere along the line The Onion gave in to the liberal dark side.
