A toddler was left in a critical condition after ending up in a zoo's crocodile enclosure, while a man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Officers were called to Johnson's of Old Hurst in Huntingdon, at 1.24pm to reports of a "distressing" incident involving a three-year-old child. The boy suffered serious wounds and was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in a "critical but stable" condition, according to Cambridgeshire Police.
A 30-year-old man, from Norfolk, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, police added.

The 3 yr old was both mangled by alligators and arrested? Thats harsh!
Well, strong evidence that it wasn’t a ‘migrant’ - the perp was arrested. If it had been a ‘migrant’ any white that pointed the perp out would likely have been the one arrested.
I’l just toss out the obvious white kid, “migrant” adult typical scenario they wont report.
They arrest them. For a little while if they do violent things.
He's not really "a man from Norfolk" now, is he?
I highly doubt that.
Article is deliberately vague about everything. Where were the parent? Three-year olds don’t ordinarily wander around a zoo by themselves. Did he kidnap the kid and throw him into the alligator pit?
And where is Steve Irwin when you need him?
So basically, a special needs adult tossed the boy into the croc pit.
Thank you for the more informative article.
- the boy has a broken arm and pelvis
- it was a 15 foot drop
- he was thankfully not attacked by crocs
- the owner/wife of the zoo jumped in to save the boy
- the 30 y/o male suspect has a carer, but the carer was briefly not paying attention
Umm, the only thing I question is if a person is so mentally disabled they might throw a child into a crocodile pit, then that person should not be out in public but rather locked up in an institution and drugged into calm compliance, too effing bad about his ‘rights’.
Tnx
I post from an iPad. So, I can be a bit brief.
The issue is a lack of transparency in the UK.
FTA .... mental issues, again, eh?
... The adult has learning difficulties and had a carer but the carer apparently wasn’t watching him at the time.
“Apparently, the wife of the zoo owner, Tracey Johnson, jumped in to the enclosure to save the child.”
Johnsons, founded by Tracey’s hubby Andy, said its “thoughts and prayers are with the boy and his family”.
It added: “Out of respect, our tropical house will remain closed until further notice. The rest of the site will remain open.” ...
Exactly. And telling people not to post speculation about it on-line only makes matters worse.
They could've just as easily said a learning-disabled adult is the suspect and that would've been the end of it because we've all seen full-grown, special needs adults and everyone would've accepted this explanation.
But they had to be evasive and demanding that nobody talks about it and that only fueled speculation that it was another deranged migrant criminal.
Article is deliberately vague about everything.
If you are a caregiver for a mentally disabled adult, who tends to physically act out his bizarre and aggressive anxieties, usually featuring small children, then you do not bring him to a high stimulation environment at all.
If you still wish to try it out, then, by all means, take him out, but there should be two staff for someone like that, with recent history of physical aggression and ideations of causing death to those who are helpless. The second staff is to help restrain the client, in case he goes off in rage or runs off the premises.
“And where is Steve Irwin when you need him?”
Steve Irwin suffered a crocodile bite across his thigh that had him hospitalized, immobilized and on anti-biotics for an inordinate number of days....
