President Donald Trump threatened Wednesday to "blow up" Oman if the longtime U.S. ally sided with Iran in seeking joint control over the Strait of Hormuz, according to reporting from the New York Post, Reuters and other outlets covering a White House Cabinet meeting.
"If Oman doesn’t behave, we’re gonna have to blow them up," Trump said during the meeting, according to the New York Post.
Trump said the Strait of Hormuz must remain an international waterway and rejected any arrangement that would place control or toll authority in the hands of Iran, Oman, or any other country, Reuters reported.
The New York Post reported the comments came after Iranian state television said Tehran and Oman were discussing a framework for joint management of commercial shipping through the strait.
Reuters reported Iranian state media described a draft proposal under which Iran and Oman would jointly oversee shipping access while the United States would ease its naval presence in the region.
The White House rejected the reported framework as "complete fabrication," according to Reuters.
Trump’s comments followed prior warnings from Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the administration opposing any tolling or fee-sharing arrangement in the waterway, according to Newsmax reporting last week. ***
Reuters reported the Strait of Hormuz carries roughly one-fifth of global oil and gas shipments and remains the central flashpoint in the wider Iran conflict.

Reuters reported there was no immediate public response from Oman’s government or embassy in Washington regarding Trump’s remarks.
Omani officials have previously called for de-escalation in regional conflicts and warned against further military escalation in the Gulf, according to prior international reporting. ***

I didn’t vote for these gas prices. Some of us don’t have the luxury of paying $10 a gallon even if it means Iran ain’t got a nuke. Gas prices were ONE of the reasons I voted for Trump. Here we are, coming up on a year and a half and I feel like I’m still under the Biden regime. It’s time to s**t or get off the pot.

Gas prices have dropped 60 cents here in the past five days, which is a good start, but statements like this will not help.
He needs to be taken out of circulation for a few days, and forced to sleep by any means necessary, even if someone has to sneak up to him with a knockout syringe or slip something into his McDonald’s. Because I don’t believe he really sleeps at all, the way normal people think of sleep, and I think his judgement is becoming very suspect because of it.
He’s the president of the United States. He can’t just run his mouth like he’s in the board room of Trump International and everyone has to bow to his wishes. It’s getting to the point where I cringe when I hear him speak.
