Chicago resident Jessica Jackson./Image: Video screenshot via @FlipChicagoRed/X Chicago resident Jessica Jackson called out Chicago Cook County Commissioners Tara Stamps and Dr. Kisha McCaskill for claiming Black voting rights are under attack by using “Voting Rights Act of 1965 propaganda” to fearmonger voters, all while ignoring the crisis impacting Black communities in the county.
The grassroots organization “Chicago Flips Red” shared her powerful remarks and noted on X, “Since 2020, nearly 2,500 homeowners have lost their properties and the equity tied to those homes through delinquent property tax sales. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled the practice unconstitutional years ago, yet families are still fighting for accountability, transparency, and relief.”
“Jackson also raises concerns about property theft tied to Cook County probate court practices, unlawful demolitions without due process, and generational wealth being stripped from longtime residents under the watch of local government.”
“Our argument: politicians continue using historic civil rights language during election season, but stay silent when Black families lose homes, land, inheritance, and wealth through government systems operating in their own backyard.”
Ms. Jackson said during her remarks, “The reality is this: Black people’s voting is not in danger, and you know it’s not, and you know it’s not. I’m 63 years old. I’ve been voting since I was 18. I have never had a problem voting.”
“Now, that may apply to my mother and father. It applies to my grandparents. Surely it does. And in fact, because it does, every single person in this room, including that Jewish lady that just got up and talked, need to really be thanking us. Really need to be thanking us for giving y’all the right to vote, for giving y’all the right to be here instead of sitting up here manipulating the Voting Rights Act like something’s getting ready to happen to our right to vote when you know that’s not true.”
“So now you all going to drag Black people in here, definitely some senior citizens, and going to have them come up here and talk about how they ‘scared to vote’.”
“‘How this messed up the right to vote.’ ‘Women need to vote.’ All that junk when you know it’s not true. Just like you sit up here and make like ‘Black people can’t get IDs….us requiring IDs to vote, it’s gonna stop Black people from voting.'”
“Why Black people ain’t got IDs? See, you all get more and more ridiculous, but you can’t in this room full of these Black people talk about that federal case that just got filed Monday, that’s talking about how you all are stealing property at Cook County sales.”
“Where the Black people in here? Raise your hand that if they told you to come in here to talk about how your property got stolen, where you at? Huh? Because we got commissioners in here that know for a fact it’s happening.”
“Caskill, you know it’s happening. Lori, you know it’s happening. Michael Scott, you know it’s happening. Lamont Williams, come on, you give up cases for the county. You know it’s happening. Donna Miller, you know what’s happening. Well, come on, y’all Black people that they just sent here with these 501c3s that they got y’all in here talking for them.”
“Why y’all ain’t in here talking about how they stealing our property?”
“One minute. Where y’all at? Come on, because y’all getting ready to come up here to this mic and lie with the cameras to say that Black people’s voting is done by this Louisiana thing and Donald Trump and the Trump administration, when Donald Trump is at the— in front of the Supreme Court right now fighting for the 14th Amendment, saying that Black people— that that amendment was for Black people.”
“Not for birthrights, not for people to anchor themselves over here illegally.”
“And they got y’all Black people in here getting ready to talk against him.”
“I mean, y’all real sick up in the head.”
“You sick in the head and more sicker in your spirit.”

Ms. Jackson has gone toe-to-toe with Chicago’s corrupt officials. In the lead-up to the 2024 election, Jackson blasted Democrats in a blistering takedown of their decades-long failures in the city and, with the support of others in the audience, proudly declared backing Donald Trump for President.

Off topic but I’m gonna say it.
What is with black people butchering the english language?
I am so tired of it.
Primary message to law abiding blacks, Pro 2nd Amendment. Push it push it at these black heavy constituent town halls and campaign stops.
Unfortunately, years of Dem/union control of inner city schools have brought this about, to the point that now it is an aspect of culture and legitimacy between blacks. And has also spread to poor white culture as well.
Poor education. I served with many blacks in the Marines that were not from the inner cities, and they talked perfectly well.
The language that we get on TV and radio is from inner city blacks that have not had decent educations.
Then there is that nutcase from Texas, Jasmine Crockett, whose ghetto voce comes and goes with the time of day and who is listening. She is not from an inner city ghetto, but from an upscale neighborhood and excellent education. She fakes her accent like some people fake their nails and hair..............
I have to agree.
This lady seems quite intelligent. She’s up to date and talking about “that federal case that just got filed Monday” and she mentions “501c3s” and “The Voting Rights Act”. She’s no dummy. She’s making good points.
But at the same time, it’s not clear that she can speak her own native language. Very hard to follow what she is saying. Black people do not do themselves any favors when they insist on “keeping it real” and speak so poorly. For me, this is part of the fatigue.
The dialect you describe is not a result of poor education.
That dialect is a manifestation and celebration of ghetto thug culture.
If they were properly educated, they would not do that.................
She should be a visiting scholar at law schools.
There is video footage of Obama affecting a more common inflection for a South Carolina audience.
