In the late 90's Bill Clinton tried to broker a deal with Yassir Arafat and actually give the Palestinians a homeland but was frustrated by Arafat.
Bill Clinton's main frustration with Yasser Arafat stemmed from the failed 2000 Camp David Summit. Clinton believed Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak offered the Palestinians a historic deal β a state on roughly 96-97% of the West Bank, all of Gaza, and a capital in East Jerusalem β but Arafat rejected it without making a counteroffer, especially over Jerusalem and refugee issues.
Clinton viewed Arafat as unwilling or unable to make the leap from revolutionary to statesman. In a private call, he told Arafat angrily: "The hell I am. I'm a colossal failure, and you made me one." He later called the rejection a "colossal mistake" that derailed peace and contributed to the Second Intifada, repeatedly stating that Arafat turned down a Palestinian state when it was within reach.
Arafat was playing rope-a-dope. In this regard Arafat and his Fatah were very much like democrats of today- they do not want a solution to problems. They want the issue.
This is what Donald Trump now faces, domestically and in the Middle East.
Trump has been patient with the interim leaders, but too patient IMO. Trump has two demands- surrender the enriched uranium and give up the ballistic missile capacity.
Iran is refusing. There is always pause following an offer from Trump and it is intentional. When they do respond, it's insulting.
But here's how it goes in the Middle East:President Donald Trump called out the "piece of garbage" peace proposal from Iran on Monday from the Oval Office, saying only "stupid people" in Iran are questioning his resolve in guaranteeing Iran will never have a nuclear weapon.
The latest Iranian proposal reneged on a past vow to give up enriched uranium, according to Trump. "They come back, and they want to negotiate, and they give us a stupid β it's a stupid proposal and nobody would take it," Trump said. "Although Obama would have taken it, Biden would have taken it."

There’s only one way to handle a rabid dog that’s trying to bite you.
Sounds like genocide.
But it’s OK when we do it.
You’re probably kidding. If you’re not, you just dumb.
One must remember its not just the “ islamic” mullahs and their govt .They are first Iranians and Iranians HATE to lose face.
This is the rusty nail that is holding up the process of regime change and its a tough one.
What part of the article sounded like genocide?
β He should just wipe out the those who will not comply and wipe out the IRGC. Set Iranians free.β
This part? I donβt think wiping out the IRGC is equivalent to a genicide, especially when itβs to free the Iranian population.
A reminder to the older folks and perhaps news to the younger - Arafat was CIA. The US sent troops to rescue him, not once, but twice since he was so valuable to the deep state (although we didn’t call it that back then).
Iran delanda est. Iran shall suffer the same fate as Carthage.
“Sounds like genocide.”
You’ll be the first person to put his ass up in the air for Muslim invaders to play with.
I am not sure that the Iranians are interested in the freedom the States is offering

Give him a rifle and send him off to Iran.
Everything I have seen/ read or personally discussed with Iranian friends have indicated they want to be free from the regime.
No its called taking out the garbage.
I'm hoping that Trump will resume combat operations when he gets back from China targeting the Ayatollahs and the Mullahs who make up the regime as well as the IRGC, but at some point, the Iranian people are going to have to step up and drive the regime out. There will be casualties, probably lots of casualties, because Iran does not have a 2nd Amendment.
